异化与归化理论观照下文化负载词的翻译

【摘要】：在翻译外国文学作品时,文化负载词的处理无疑是一大难点。在处理文化负载词时,译者一方面需要将文化负载词的特殊文化内涵传达给目的语读者,另一方面又要符合目的语的语言规范。本文的翻译素材来自美国社会学家马修·戴斯蒙德的非虚构小说Evicted,描写了美国社会底层家庭的贫困生活,以及因付不起房租而屡遭房东驱逐的社会现象。该作品的语言看似平实,却蕴含着许多文化因素,尤其是其中的文化负载词,成为翻译过程中的一大难点,因此本文将文化负载词的汉译策略作为研究对象。本文首先阐释了异化与归化理论的发展、理论观点,以及文化负载词的特点,在异化与归化理论的指导下,将异化与归化的策略运用到文化负载词的汉译中;其次,本文从文化负载词的文化特质在译文中的保留和目的语读者的阅读感受两方面对具体案例展开较为详尽的分析,归纳了英语文化负载词的汉译策略和技巧;最后,本文针对不同类型的文化负载词的翻译方法进行总结并得出结论。译界关于异化与归化理论的讨论可以说从未停止。异化理论主张使译文靠近原作者,尽可能保持原作的风味;归化理论则突出了目的语读者的地位,强调采用目的语文化认可的语言规范和表达方式,使译文通顺、流畅。在翻译实践中,将异化与归化完全对立起来显然是不切实际的。所以,译者对两种理论的认识应当趋于辩证,在翻译实践中也需要将异化与归化的翻译策略综合起来进行考虑。本文的翻译素材中,不同类型的文化负载词处理方法也不尽相同,本文中涉及的具体方法包括直译、意译、替换、增益、加注。本文在翻译评注部分按翻译方法对案例进行了分类分析,以求使译文语言通顺、流畅,并尽可能保留原作中文化负载词的文化特质和异国情调,使最终呈现的译文能够在忠于原作和忠于目的语读者之间找到最佳平衡点。
[Abstract]:In the translation of foreign literary works, the treatment of culture-loaded words is undoubtedly a big difficulty. In dealing with culture-loaded words, the translator needs to convey the cultural connotations of culture-loaded words to the target language readers on the one hand, and conform to the target language norms on the other. The translation material of this paper is drawn from the American sociologist Matthew Desmond's non-fictional novel Evicted.It describes the poor life of the underclass families in American society and the social phenomenon of being expelled by landlords because they can't afford to pay the rent. The language of this work seems to be plain, but it contains many cultural factors, especially culture-loaded words, which have become a major difficulty in the process of translation. Therefore, this paper takes the translation strategy of culture-loaded words into Chinese as the object of study. Under the guidance of the theory of alienation and domestication, the strategy of alienation and domestication is applied to the translation of culture-loaded words. This paper makes a detailed analysis of the specific cases in terms of the cultural characteristics of the culture-loaded words in the translation and the readers' reading feelings of the target language, and concludes the strategies and techniques of translating the culture-loaded words into Chinese. This paper summarizes the translation methods of different types of culture-loaded words and draws a conclusion. The discussion on the theory of alienation and domestication in translation circles can be said to never stop. The alienation theory advocates that the target text be close to the original author and keep the original flavor as far as possible, while the domestication theory highlights the status of the target language reader and emphasizes the adoption of language norms and expressions recognized by the target language culture so as to make the translation smooth and smooth. In translation practice, it is obviously impractical to completely oppose alienation and domestication. Therefore, translators' understanding of the two theories should be dialectical and the translation strategies of alienation and domestication should be considered in translation practice. In the translation materials, different types of culture-loaded words are processed in different ways, including literal translation, free translation, substitution, gain, and annotation. In the part of the translation commentary, this paper classifies the cases according to the translation method in order to make the target language smooth and fluent, and to preserve as much as possible the cultural characteristics and exotic sentiment of the culture-loaded words in the original text. So that the final translated text can find the best balance between faithful to the original text and loyal to the target language readers.
