《陈忠实散文选译》翻译效果的转换视域研究

【摘要】：作为陈忠实散文作品唯一公开出版的英译本,《陈忠实散文选译》已经出版了 6年。但是迄今为止学界还没有从翻译的转换视角对此它的翻译效果进行过研究。本研究以卡特福德翻译转换理论为理论依据研究了关于《陈忠实散文选译》的两个问题:第一,翻译转换是如何运用的;第二,运用了翻译转换之后译文在多大程度上和原文的内容及风格一致。本研究采用对比描述研究及定量定性相结合的方法,从卡特福德翻译转换理论的层次转换以及范畴转换下的类别转换、结构转换和单位转换四个角度分析了译文中的转换运用及转换效果。对比法和定量分析法确定并分析了译文中的转换运用数据,描述法和定性分析法分析了译本在转换后达到的效果。本研究选取了《陈忠实散文选译》中的14篇文章中的319对英汉句子。运用对比法和统计法按照卡特福德翻译转换分类模式采用人工统计的方法收集了数据。研究结果发现在层次转换中数的转换情况最多,达到了 52%,而语气转换仅占了 6%。在类别转换中动词转换为名词或名词性短语的情况最多,达到了61%,动词到形容词及其短语的转换最少为16%。结构转换中前置修饰语转换为后置修饰语占了 33%而有灵主语转换为无灵主语的转换最少为9%。单元转换中句子或从句转换为短语的情况占了 37%,词到短语的转换最少占了 9%。通过对数据的定性分析研究发现由于汉英句子结构差异很大转换的应用在译文中普遍存在,这些转换在很大程度上符合英语句子的特征以及以英语为母语的人的思维方式。通过对例子分析发现译文中大多数(80.85%)的词、句转换效果较好:较忠实传达了原文词、句的意义和再现了原文的风格。因此,译文在转换效果上在词、句层面较好地忠实于原文。通过本研究,希望为翻译初学者的散文翻译实践有所帮助,也为散文翻译研究提供一个新的研究视角。
[Abstract]:As the only English translation of Chen Zhongshi's prose works, the selected Translation of Chen Zhongshi Prose has been published for 6 years. However, so far, scholars have not studied its translation effects from the perspective of translation. On the basis of Catford's translation theory, the present study studies two issues concerning the selected Translation of Chen Zhongshi Prose: first, how to use translation conversion; second, The extent to which the translation is used is consistent with the content and style of the original text. In this study, a comparative descriptive study and a quantitative and qualitative approach are used to analyze the hierarchical transformation of Catford's translation theory as well as the category conversion under category transformation. The application and effect of translation in translation are analyzed from four angles: structural transformation and unit conversion. Contrastive method and quantitative analysis method are used to determine and analyze the translation data, and the descriptive method and qualitative analysis method are used to analyze the effect of the translation. The present study selects 319 pairs of English and Chinese sentences from 14 articles in selected Translation of Chen Zhongshi Prose. According to the Catford translation classification model, the data are collected by means of comparison and statistics. The results show that the number conversion in hierarchical transformation is the most, reaching 52%, while mood conversion accounts for only 6%. In category conversion, verb conversion to noun or noun phrase is the most, reaching 61%, and verb to adjective and its phrase conversion is at least 16 layers. In structural transformation, 33% of premodifiers are converted into postmodifiers and 9% of spiritual subjects are converted into inactive subjects. In unit conversion, the conversion of sentences or clauses into phrases accounts for 37%, and the conversion of words to phrases accounts for at least 9%. Based on the qualitative analysis of the data, it is found that because of the great differences in sentence structure between Chinese and English, these transformations are widely used in the translation, and to a great extent accord with the characteristics of English sentences and the mode of thinking of native English speakers. Through the analysis of examples, it is found that most of the words in the target text (80.85) have a better effect of sentence conversion: they convey the original word faithfully, the meaning of the sentence and the style of the original text are reproduced. Therefore, the translation effect in terms of words, sentence level better faithful to the original text. Through this study, it is hoped that this study will be helpful to the translation practice of beginners and provide a new perspective for the study of prose translation.
