从文学文体学角度对比分析《一个青年艺术家的画像》的两个中译本

【摘要】：詹姆斯·乔伊斯被认为是20世纪爱尔兰最伟大的作家之一。他最杰出的贡献是他在文学作品中体现的语言创新和高超的文字技巧。他的早期作品《一个青年艺术家的画像》被认为是具有半自传色彩的一部著作,运用许多现代主义技巧。 文学文体学,其实质在于将语言学理论架之于文学文本,并重点关注文本的美学意义及主题意义。本文运用这一研究方法意在对文学文本做出详尽的文体分析,深度挖掘其后隐藏的主题和美学意义,并将之用于指导翻译实践,对比选取的两个译本,看译者是否并在何种程度上保留并传递出原文的美学和主题意义,为翻译标准提供一个更为新颖更为全面的指导标准。本文将从词汇、语法、修辞、衔接与语境这四个层面开展对《一个青年艺术家的画像》的文体特征进行研究,并针对两个译本中的译者所采取的译法进行分析,发现理解文本文体特征背后的作者创作意图将会影响译者对原文的理解及意义的传递,并提高译者的文体意识和美学意识。 在词汇层面,乔伊斯善用形容词连用结构突出事物特征,并时常用临时造词来表达意义以期语言上的创新并赋予文本活力；语法层面上,乔伊斯将主人公的成长印记暗含在语言复杂程度中,并通过灵活运用句子结构传递美学和主题意义；修辞层面上,乔伊斯运用暗喻、拟声词、模糊及排比等手法,加深文字的文学性和文体特征,为主题意义服务；在衔接与语境层面,乔伊斯通过省略、词汇重复及变词求雅等手法保持文本的连贯性,深化文本主题,增添美学色彩。对比两位译者的译本发现,关注和理解文本的文体特征,对于译者正确并完整地传递原文意义具有十分关键意义,而忽视文体特征,可能会导致译者对原文意义的错误理解及文体价值的丢失。 本文为研究《一个青年艺术家的画像》的文体特征及其翻译对比提供了新的视角,对于理解欣赏这部巨著的艺术价值并对文学翻译作出指导具有一定意义。
[Abstract]:James Joyce is considered to be one of the greatest writers in Ireland in the 20 th century. His most outstanding contribution is his language innovation and superb writing skills in literary works. His early work Portrait of a Young Artist is considered to be a semi-autobiographical work that uses many modernist techniques. The essence of literary stylistics lies in putting linguistic theory on literary text and focusing on the aesthetic and thematic significance of the text. This paper uses this research method to make a detailed stylistic analysis of literary texts, dig deeply into the hidden themes and aesthetic meanings, and use them to guide translation practice and compare the two versions selected. To see if and to what extent the translator preserves and conveys the aesthetic and thematic meaning of the original text, so as to provide a more novel and comprehensive guiding standard for the translation standard. This paper will study the stylistic features of A Portrait of a Young Artist from four aspects: vocabulary, grammar, rhetoric, cohesion and context, and analyze the translation methods adopted by translators in the two versions. It is found that the author's creative intention behind the understanding of the stylistic features of the text will affect the translator's understanding of the original text and the transmission of meaning, and improve the translator's stylistic and aesthetic consciousness. At the lexical level, Joyce makes good use of adjectives to highlight the characteristics of things, and often uses temporary words to express meaning in order to innovate in language and give vitality to the text. At the grammatical level, Joyce implies the growth imprint of the protagonist in the complexity of the language, and conveys aesthetic and thematic meaning through the flexible use of sentence structure. On the rhetorical level, Joyce uses metonymy, onomatopoeia, ambiguity and ranking to deepen the literariness and stylistic features of the text and serve the thematic meaning. At the level of cohesion and context, Joyce maintains the coherence of the text through omission, lexical repetition and elegance, deepens the theme of the text and adds aesthetic color. Compared with the two translators, it is found that it is very important for the translator to pay attention to and understand the stylistic features of the text in order to convey the meaning of the original text correctly and completely, while neglecting the stylistic features. It may lead to the translator's wrong understanding of the meaning of the original text and the loss of stylistic value. This paper provides a new perspective for the study of the stylistic features of the Portrait of a Young Artist and its translation contrast, which is of great significance for understanding and appreciating the artistic value of this masterpiece and guiding literary translation.
