压迫,颠覆与建构—论《慈悲》的空间政治

【摘要】:作为首位摘得诺贝尔文学奖桂冠的非裔美国女性作家,托尼·莫里森已成为评论界关注的焦点。2008年11月,功成名就的莫里森笔耕不辍,在美国总统大选之际发表其新作《慈悲》。 自发表之初,该小说便迅速吸引评论者的目光。研究者们从叙事学,女性生态主义,后殖民主义,新历史主义,原型批评等角度对该小说进行了分析阐释,极大地深化了读者对此小说的理解。事实上,除以上角度外,莫里森小说中的空间问题同样值得关注。从《宠儿》中的甜蜜之家,到《慈悲》中雅各布的农场,从奴隶制时代的贩奴船到种植园,莫里森小说中的人物总是在一定的空间内活动,空间已成为各种权力关系交织的场所。那么,就《慈悲》而言,这部小说中的空间呈现了怎样的权力关系,,寄托了作者怎样的空间思想呢? 本论文以列斐伏尔的“空间三一论”为理论框架,聚焦小说中的主要人物以及他们的生存空间,从种族,阶级,性别三个层次探讨强权阶级是如何通过构建充斥着白/非白,上/下,男/女二元对立思想的空间表征来压迫弱势阶级,而后者又是如何借助空间这一媒介,通过叛逆性的空间实践来反抗压迫,从而获得自我表征空间。 通过分析,本论文认为《慈悲》充分体现了如下空间政治观,那就是空间不止是压迫者压迫的工具,同时也是被压迫者反抗的媒介。压迫者利用空间表征限制被压迫者的表征空间,规约被压迫者的空间实践,而被压迫者同样可以借助反抗性空间实践颠覆强权空间表征,建构自我表征空间。
[Abstract]:As the first African-American female writer to win the Nobel Prize for Literature, Tony Morrison has become a critical focus. In November 2008, the successful Morrison published his new book, Mercy, on the eve of the US presidential election. From the very beginning of its publication, the novel quickly attracted the attention of critics. From the perspectives of narratology, feminism, post-colonialism, neo-historicism and archetypal criticism, the researchers analyze and interpret the novel, which greatly deepens the readers' understanding of the novel. In fact, in addition to the above point of view, the space in Morrison's novels is also worthy of attention. From Sweet House in beloved to Jacob's Farm in Mercy, from slavery boats to plantations, the characters in Morrison's novels are always in space. Space has become a place where all kinds of power relations interweave. So, as far as mercy is concerned, what kind of power relationship does the space in this novel present and what kind of spatial thought does the author have? This thesis takes Lefebvre's "Space Trinity" as the theoretical framework, focuses on the main characters and their living space in the novel, and explores how the powerful class is constructed with white / non-white through the three levels of race, class and gender. In the upper / lower, the spatial representation of the idea of dualistic opposition between men and women oppresses the disadvantaged class, and the latter uses the medium of space to resist oppression through the rebellious space practice, so as to obtain the space of self-representation. Through analysis, this paper holds that compassion fully embodies the political view of space, that is, space is not only a tool of oppression, but also a medium for the oppressed to resist. The oppressors use space representation to limit the representation space of the oppressed, and regulate the spatial practice of the oppressed, while the oppressed can also subvert the spatial representation of power by means of the rebellious spatial practice, and construct the space of self-representation.
