[Abstract]:Francis Scott Fitzgerald, as one of the masters of modern American novels, published five novels in his long literary career, among which paradise on earth is his first novel. Since the novel was published, with its semi-autobiographical factors, lyric and beautiful writing, the new era of the true portrayal, In particular, Amory, the protagonist who represents a new generation of images, has won widespread attention from American critics. Amory, the protagonist of Paradise on Earth, was born into a middle-class family. His childhood was a life of luxury but his parents' mismanagement left him almost penniless in adulthood. He experienced the first World War and the changes in social, economic, cultural, and moral standards from the early twentieth century to the jazz age. There are deep contradictions and conflicts in his heart, and his behavior is therefore unreasonable. He longed to indulge his inner desires, but at the same time he was often punished by conscience and ashamed even to see ghosts in hallucinations. He was smart, handsome, always wanted attention and stature, and had beautiful girls, but in this society of moral depravity and money, he was repeatedly beaten by failure. This thesis intends to use Freud's psychoanalysis theory to analyze the spiritual world of Amori, the protagonist of the Paradise on Earth, combining the family environment and social background of the protagonist, and try to analyze his Oedipus complex.
