[Abstract]:The boundless sea of algae is the classic work of Jane Reese in the 20th century. Reese rewrites the image of Bertha Mason, the crazy woman in Charlotti Bronte's famous novel Jane Bronte. The identity of the heroine Antoinette is undoubtedly an important theme in the novel. As a white Creole woman living in a colonial patriarchal society, Antoinette could only exist as another. The thesis uses post-colonialism and feminism to analyze the other identity of the heroine in the novel. The thesis discusses Antoinette's tragedy from three aspects: ethnic conflict, European cultural hegemony and patriarchy. In addition, this paper analyzes Antoinette's internal psychological development, that is, to explore the process of self-identity. She mingled in two contradictory worlds until she finally recognized her unique identity as a white Creole woman and was reborn. At the same time, the study on the identity of the heroine is inspired by the writer's own experience. By describing Antoinette, she seems to want to find a way out for all white Creole women who face the same situation.
