论詹姆斯早期现代主义思想的开拓性与局限性

【摘要】：亨利·詹姆斯是一百年前那场声势浩大的现代主义文学运动的伟大先驱者,也是英美文坛早期现代主义思想的重要倡导者。詹姆斯的现代主义思想不仅为英美文学从恪守传统转向全面革新奠定了重要基础,而且对第一次世界大战前后崛起的整个一代"先锋派"作家具有不容置疑的引领作用。本文旨在深入探讨詹姆斯早期现代主义思想的内涵与特征,系统阐述其创作观念和小说理论的开拓性,并揭示他在追求艺术革新过程中暴露出的历史局限性。
[Abstract]:Henry James was a great pioneer of the great modernist literary movement a hundred years ago and an important advocate of the early modernism in British and American literary circles. James' modernism not only laid an important foundation for British and American literature from adhering to tradition to all-round innovation, but also played an unquestionable role in leading the whole generation of "avant-garde" writers who rose before and after the first World War. The purpose of this paper is to probe into the connotation and characteristics of James' early modernism, to systematically expound his creative ideas and the pioneering nature of his novel theory, and to reveal his historical limitations in the process of pursuing artistic innovation.
