英国当代作家朵丽斯．莱辛与中国当代作家陈染在英国和中国文学界中都闻名于世。出生在波斯的莱辛以变化的视角和不断创新的写作技巧对她的时代进行了大胆的探索。在她半个多世纪的写作生涯中，发表了许多作品，并引起了世界性的反响。1962年，莱辛的代表作《金色笔记》问世，这部小说因其在结构上的创新和对五十年代英国社会的精神状态和道德状况的反映而成为二十世纪英国文学的一部经典之作，并奠定了莱辛在当代英国文坛的重要地位。《金色笔记》由一个故事、五本笔记构成。五本笔记分别记述了主人公安娜的各个不同侧面。其中四本分裂的笔记分别讲述安娜自我的分裂，包括黑、红、黄、蓝，而最后的金色笔记讲述安娜自我的整合。它讲述了女主人公从自我分裂、崩溃到重归完整人格的心路历程。 中国当代小说家陈染发表了很多短篇小说并在中国获得文学奖，她曾获得第一届“当代中国女性创作奖”。她的第一部长篇小说《私人生活》曾被John Howard Gibbon翻译成英文于1996年发表。《私人生活》是一部描写现代大都市女性生命轨迹的严肃的先锋小说，它以女主人公自身的女性经验和隐秘的内心生活为视角，讲述了一个女孩倪拗拗在成长成为一个女人...
