【摘要】：在《褐姑娘、褐砖房》中,非裔美国女作家葆拉·马歇尔力图通过人和场所的并置重新探讨场所精神。一方面,她承认场所精神的重要性,因为这是人们对于存在意义的追求,她尤其通过敏感多思的黑人少女赛琳娜的经历凸显了具有离散背景的巴巴多斯裔美国人对于场所精神的探索;另一方面,她又质疑单一、封闭以及静止的场所精神,借女主人赛琳娜在不同场所中的体验(包括在褐砖房、工厂、公寓等的经历)揭示出场所精神的复杂多变,并通过赛琳娜对于街道这一场所的认同表明她渴望开放的空间,更希望能够参与到场所精神的制造中。在创造新的场所精神的过程中,巴巴多斯裔美国人也在书写新的身份,一种同样处在变化和建构中的身份。
[Abstract]:In Brown Girl, Brown Brick House, African American writer Paula Marshall tries to re-explore the spirit of place through the juxtaposition of people and places. On the one hand, she acknowledged the importance of the spirit of place, because it was the pursuit of meaning in existence. In particular, through the experience of Selena, a sensitive black girl, she highlights the exploration of the spirit of place by Barbadian Americans with a discrete background; on the other hand, she questions the single, closed, and static spirit of the place. The experience of the hostess Selena in different places (including in brown brick houses, factories, apartments, etc.) reveals the complexity of the spirit of the place, and through Selena's approval of the place on the street shows her desire for open space. More hope to be able to participate in the manufacture of the spirit of the place. In the process of creating a new spirit of place, Barbadian Americans are also writing a new identity, which is also in the process of change and construction.
