态度资源下赛珍珠《大地》中阿兰的性格特点分析

【摘要】：赛珍珠的代表作《大地》于1931年3月在纽约出版后,当年就销售了180万册,第二年荣获普利策奖。1938年,赛珍珠摘得诺贝尔文学奖桂冠,登上文学生涯的顶峰。该成就很大一部分归功于《大地》对乡土中国的描写、对中国农民恋土情结的阐述、对中国农妇命运的关注和对淳朴农民的同情和热爱。尽管许多国内外学者已经从不同视角对其研究,但是很少有研究者从语言学角度、依据评价理论分析女主人公阿兰的性格特点。因此,本文从态度系统的三个子系统出发,对阿兰的性格特点进行了尝试性分析。20世纪90年代,J.R.Martin教授对Halliday系统功能语法的人际意义进行了扩展和延伸,并提出了评价理论。态度系统是评价理论的三个子系统之一,也是评价理论的核心系统,包括情感反应、行为判断和现象评估。态度系统是指心理受到影响后对人类行为、文体/过程及现象做出的判断和鉴赏。态度系统的中心是情感资源。判断和鉴赏资源都是以情感资源为基础的。许多国内外研究者已经对此作了大量研究。然而,很少研究者运用态度系统分析人物性格。本文运用定量和定性的分析方法,挑选出《大地》中与阿兰性格特点有关的态度资源,使用相关名词的缩写形式对其进行标注,从而发现这些态度资源的的分布特点、语言特征以及人际意义,以此来分析赛珍珠如何塑造女主人公阿兰的性格特点。阿兰的性格有两个层面。一方面,阿兰深受封建传统文化男尊女卑价值观的影响,养成沉默、顺从,任人欺凌的性格。另一方面,尽管阿兰势力薄弱,无法摆脱习惯势力的强大束缚,她还是用她自己的勇气和智慧对不公正和不平等的待遇进行了有效地回击。语料分析发现:(1)小说中运用丰富而多样的态度资源(169)塑造阿兰顺从和反抗的性格特点。(2)情感资源与判断资源在态度系统中所占的比例相近。其中,判断资源在态度系统中所占的比例最大(53.3%),这表明在《大地》中,赛珍珠试图通过敏锐地观察女主人公的行为举止来塑造她的性格特点。情感资源的比例占第二位(44.9%),鉴赏资源所占比例最低(1.8%)。此外,赛珍珠倾向于用消极的态度资源刻画阿兰形象。其中,消极资源(109)占所有的态度资源(169)比重是64.5%。(3)赛珍珠喜欢使用形容词和副词来描述女主人公阿兰顺从和反抗的性格特点。此外,她还倾向使用名词化、反复等手法来塑造阿兰的性格特征。一方面,本研究从一个新视角鉴赏《大地》中女主人公阿兰的性格和其语言特征。另一方面,它为将来的文学教学提供了一些重要启示。
[Abstract]:Pearl Buck's masterpiece, the Earth, was published in New York in March 1931. It sold 1.8 million copies in that year and won the Pulitzer Prize in the following year. In 1938, Pearl Buck won the Nobel Prize for Literature and reached the peak of her literary career. Much of this achievement is attributed to the description of native China, the exposition of Chinese farmers' love for the earth, the concern for the fate of Chinese peasant women and the sympathy and love for the simple peasants. Although many scholars at home and abroad have studied it from different perspectives, few researchers have analyzed the character characteristics of the heroine Alan from the perspective of linguistics and evaluation theory. Therefore, based on the three subsystems of attitude system, this paper makes a tentative analysis of Alan's personality characteristics. In the 1990s, Professor J. R. Martin extended and extended the interpersonal meaning of Halliday's systemic functional grammar, and put forward an evaluation theory. Attitude system is one of the three subsystems of evaluation theory, and it is also the core system of evaluation theory, including emotional reaction, behavior judgment and phenomenon evaluation. Attitude system refers to the judgment and appreciation of human behavior, style / process and phenomena after psychological influence. The center of attitude system is emotional resources. Judgment and appreciation resources are based on emotional resources. Many researchers at home and abroad have done a lot of research on this. However, few researchers use attitude system to analyze characters. By using quantitative and qualitative analysis methods, this paper selects the attitude resources related to the character characteristics of Alan in the Earth, and uses the abbreviations of related nouns to mark them, thus finding out the distribution characteristics of these attitude resources. The linguistic characteristics and interpersonal meaning are used to analyze how Pearl Buck shapes the character of the heroine Alan. Alan's character has two dimensions. On the one hand, Alan was deeply influenced by the values of men and women in feudal traditional culture, and formed a character of silence, obedience and bullying. On the other hand, although Alain was weak and unable to get rid of the power of habit, she responded effectively to injustice and inequality with her own courage and wisdom. It is found from the corpus analysis that the rich and varied attitude resources used in the novel 169) shape the character characteristics of Alain's obedience and resistance. (2) the proportion of emotional resources and judgment resources in the attitude system is similar. Among them, the proportion of judgment resources in attitude system is 53.3%, which indicates that Pearl Buck tries to shape her character by observing the heroine's behavior acutely. The proportion of emotional resources is the second, and the proportion of appreciation resources is the lowest. In addition, Pearl Buck tends to portray Alan with negative attitude resources. Among them, negative resources account for 169) of all attitude resources. The proportion of negative resources is 64.50.3.Pearl Buck likes to use adjectives and adverbs to describe the heroine Alain's submissive and rebellious character. In addition, she also tends to use nominalization, repetition and other techniques to shape the character of Alan. On the one hand, this study looks at the character and linguistic characteristics of the heroine Alain from a new perspective. On the other hand, it provides some important enlightenment for the future literature teaching.
