麦克尤恩《赎罪》和《甜牙》中的伦理两难

【摘要】：伊恩·麦克尤恩是英国享誉文坛的大家,他出版的十四部小说为他赢得了批评界的广泛赞誉。《赎罪》是麦克尤恩最富盛名的作品,而《甜牙》是其2012年的新作,在形式上延续了《赎罪》的多层叙事模式。对伦理问题的关注与探索贯穿麦克尤恩创作的始终,而伦理两难在《赎罪》和《甜牙》中得到了充分体现。近几年,已有批评家关注到两部作品的情感意蕴和道德力量,但从伦理角度进行的研究尚少,也未曾有人将两部作品放在一起分析,这对于麦克尤恩小说研究不能不说是一个缺憾。本文试图采用文学伦理学批评方法,从伦理角度对《赎罪》和《甜牙》进行解读。论文第一章围绕《赎罪》中布里奥尼的罪与赎这条“伦理线”展开,通过刻画她陷入伦理两难之境的过程来揭示伦理两难的复杂和微妙,深挖其背后的社会文化根源;第二章围绕《甜牙》中人物复杂多元的伦理身份展开,通过揭示个体与国家、个体与个体之间伦理关系同社会既定伦理规则的矛盾来探索伦理两难之境的成因。第三章着重展现麦克尤恩的伦理观:通过对两部小说人物不同命运的对比来展示获得自由的不易和“同理心”的可贵。“同理心”的取得离不开阅读和书写过程。文字有着记录事件、表达忏悔和寄托情感的作用,从而可以用来求得宽恕、获取救赎进而达成和解。本文借助文本细读,结合麦克尤恩所处时代、他的个人经历和他对写作体验的反思来领会其对伦理问题的探索和思考,而后上升至一般性的人类的伦理两难,进而为当代的伦理问题提供参考与借鉴。
[Abstract]:Ian McEwan is one of the most popular literary figures in Britain, and his fourteen novels have won him wide acclaim in critical circles. Atonement is McEwan's most famous work, and Sweet Tooth is his new work in 2012. In the form of a continuation of the "Atonement" multiple narrative mode. The concern and exploration of ethical issues run through McEwan's creation, and ethical dilemmas are fully embodied in Atonement and Sweet Tooth. In recent years, critics have paid close attention to the emotional implications and moral power of the two works, but little research has been done from an ethical point of view, and no one has analyzed the two works together. This is a pity for the study of McEwan's novels. This paper attempts to interpret Atonement and Sweet Tooth from an ethical point of view by means of literary ethical criticism. The first chapter focuses on the ethical line of "sin and redemption" of Britney in Atonement, which reveals the complexity and subtlety of the ethical dilemma by portraying her in the process of ethical dilemma, and deeply explores the social and cultural root behind it. The second chapter focuses on the complex and pluralistic ethical identity of the characters in Sweet Tooth, and explores the causes of the ethical dilemma by revealing the contradictions between individual and state, between individual and the established ethical rules of society. The third chapter focuses on showing McEwan's ethics: through the comparison of the different fates of the characters in the two novels to show the value of freedom and empathy. The acquisition of empathy is inseparable from the process of reading and writing. Writing has the function of recording events, expressing repentance and reposing emotion, which can be used to obtain forgiveness, redemption and reconciliation. With the help of close reading of the text and combining with McEwan's time, his personal experience and his reflection on his writing experience, this paper tries to understand his exploration and reflection on ethical issues, and then rises to the general ethical dilemma of mankind. And then provide reference and reference for contemporary ethical issues.
