“你永远不明白”—论《终结的感觉》中托尼形象的双重建构

【摘要】：《终结的感觉》是英国当代著名小说家朱利安·巴恩斯的小说,主人公托尼是这部小说的叙述者。托尼在回忆中先后建立了极为矛盾的两个自我形象——一个是温良无害的“好人”形象,一个是心胸狭窄、善妒、恶毒的“小人”形象。小说中第一人称的“经验自我”视角能使读者以同情的眼光来对待托尼的旧自我,而第一人称的“叙述自我”又使读者时刻对托尼叙述的真实性存疑;倒叙和加减速并用的时间叙事策略、几处突变的情节设置,让读者看到托尼是如何一步步破除旧自我,建立新自我的。在托尼的双重形象建构中,许多留白的情节能充分调动读者参与文本的积极性,一旦读者积极地参与文本时,将能更深刻地发掘出这部小说的悲剧意味。《终结的感觉》通过托尼的双重形象建构,表达了丰富的主题思想:从某种意义上说,相对于客观的物理时间,个人的心理时间才是塑造和改变一个人的真正时间;人类记忆具有极大的欺骗性,历史真相由此变得可望而不可即,小说中维罗妮卡再三对托尼所说的“你永远不明白”就是对这种人类困境的隐喻。然而,我们不必对此而感到沮丧,因为有时候真相并非是最重要的,重要的是我们在追逐真相的过程中不断地刷新对自我、对他人、对世界的认识,渐臻真、善、美。
[Abstract]:Feeling of termination is the novel of Julian Barnes, the famous British novelist. Tony the protagonist is the narrator of the novel. In his recollection, Tony has established two contradictory self-images-a gentle and harmless image of a "good man" and a narrow-minded, jealous, vicious image of a villain. The perspective of "experiential ego" of the first person in the novel can make the reader treat Tony's old self with sympathy, while the first person's "narrative ego" always makes the reader doubt the truth of Tony's narration. Flashback and acceleration and deceleration of the time narrative strategy, several sudden plot settings, let the reader see how Tony step by step to break the old self, the establishment of a new self. In Tony's double image construction, many of the plots in space can fully arouse the readers' enthusiasm to participate in the text, once the readers actively participate in the text, Will be able to dig deeper into the tragic meaning of the novel. Through Tony's double image construction, Toni expresses a wealth of thematic ideas: in a sense, relative to objective physical time, Personal psychological time is the real time to shape and change a person; Human memory is so deceptive that historical truth becomes elusive. Veronica tells Tony again and again that "you never understand" is a metaphor for this human dilemma. However, we do not have to be dismayed by this, because sometimes truth is not the most important thing. It is important that we constantly refresh our understanding of ourselves, others, the world, truth, goodness, beauty in the pursuit of truth.
