乱中求序—《喧哗与骚动》的文体特质

　　美国著名作家威廉·福克纳在其作品中对文体进行大胆实验，名噪一时。可以说，他获得诺贝尔文学奖并在世界文坛占据坚不可摧的地位在很大程度上得益于他独特的文体。评论家普遍认为，福克纳的代表作《喧哗与骚动》是最具开创性的实验小说之一，标志着福克纳大胆进行创作实验的开端。对《喧哗与骚动》的评论可谓“汗牛充栋”，但很少有评论系统地研究小说的词汇、句式和叙述特质以及这些特质在文体上的目的和作用。有鉴于此，本文首先认真研究并确定该小说在词汇、句式和叙述方面与众不同的特征，然后将这些特征进行分类并分析研究。研究发现：福克纳在运用词汇方面才华出众。为了展现不同叙述者在智力、语言表达能力方面的差异和关注点的不同，他赋予不同叙述者不同的词汇。傻子班吉的词汇量有限，且主要由简单词和具体词构成，由此看出班吉在智力方面的障碍和缺陷。昆丁词汇量很大，词汇复杂、抽象，由此展现昆丁的智力、所受的教育以及他所迷恋的事情。在杰生的词汇中，日常用语和口头禅比比皆是，反映出他整天愤愤不平和俗不可耐的特点。福克纳对词汇重复情有独钟。福克纳认为现有英语形容词不能完全表达他的思想，所以常常使用一连串近意词，试图最大可能地表达他的思想。他...
