【摘要】：《弗洛斯河上的磨坊》和《京华烟云》是19世纪英国著名的批判现实主义作家乔治·艾略特与中国著名小说家，散文家，哲学家，语言学家及词典编撰者林语堂先生的各自代表作品。他们的作品为文学世界带来了深远影响也将永远持续下去。《弗洛斯河上的磨坊》描述了女主人公麦琪的跌宕欺负的一生。在她短暂的生命里，经历了家庭的不幸后，她的心里和思想在许多方面发生了很大的变化。国内外研究院从多角度多方面对小说进行研究，同时也为今后的研究提供了大量宝贵意见。《京华烟云》讲述了主角姚木兰的睿智生活。林语堂曾说，如果他是女人，他一定要成为木兰那样的女性。在他的眼中，木兰具有一切女人应该拥有的一切素质，她的优雅、她的善良和她的才华。这本小说帮助西方人更好的了解中国文化和当时的生活。有许多的人都对这两部著名作品进行了品评。而在先前所有的研究中，却很少有作家对这两位女主人公从某一方面进行对比研究。直至现在，仍有许多作者从导致麦琪悲剧生活的原因，将麦琪作为小说作者的影子以及解析她生活的社会来解读《弗洛斯河上的磨坊》。而对《京华烟云》的主要研究更多关注于道家思想从多方面对木兰的影响而着手。因此，，采用定性方法与文学批评理论的指导下，本文旨在从伦理方面探讨麦琪与木兰在不同文化，社会背景的相似性。本文通过分析两个人物的同一伦理角度的不同态度来探寻二者的相似之处，而后分析出导致相似的原因。最后，笔者得出麦琪和木兰在自我发现，抵抗和妥协上存在许多相似的地方。
