空间批评视野下《大街》的冲突主题研究

【摘要】：辛克莱·刘易斯是世界文学史上第一位获得诺贝尔文学奖的美国作家。他的作品语言诙谐幽默，笔触细腻精湛，为全世界读者栩栩如生地展现着美国式社会生活。作为刘易斯的代表作，《大街》以女主人公卡萝尔的生活经历为主线，通过对20世纪初美国中西部小镇戈弗草原镇的日常生活图景的刻画，揭示了工业转型时期美国社会的种种冲突。 空间因素在《大街》中是一种全面渗透，作品的冲突主题被空间化后隐含在空间的各个层面中。本文试将《大街》置于空间批评视域内，通过对作品空间中社会文化内涵的解读，探讨作者在作品中赋予的社会冲突主题。首先，通过对复杂的空间批评理论体系进行梳理，，本文构建出一套操作性较强的空间批评理论框架。第一章应用边界空间理论，将作品物质空间背后蕴含的社会文化矛盾挖掘出来。第二章对几种文化心理在寻求个体或集体主体认同时产生的矛盾进行剖析，以阐释作品精神空间中的冲突主题。在福柯的空间与权力理论和麦克·克朗的他者化空间理论指导下，第三章对作品中不同利益群体之间的争锋进行分析，以揭示工业转型期美国的社会空间中暗藏的持久冲突。总之，运用空间批评理论对《大街》中呈现的空间因素进行解读，可以使作品中各种异质力量间的冲突更加明显，进而揭示作品深刻的社会文化内涵。
[Abstract]:Sinclair Lewis is the first American writer to win the Nobel Prize for Literature in the history of world literature. American social life is vividly presented to readers around the world. As Lewis's masterpiece, the main line of Avenue is the life experience of Carol, the heroine. By depicting the daily life picture of Gover grassland town in 20th century, this paper reveals the conflicts in American society during the period of industrial transformation. The spatial factor is a kind of comprehensive permeation in the main Street, and the conflict theme of the work is spatialized and hidden in all aspects of the space. This paper tries to put the main Street in the perspective of spatial criticism. Through the interpretation of the social and cultural connotation in the work space, this paper discusses the theme of social conflict given by the author in his works. First of all, through combing the complex theory system of space criticism, In the first chapter, the boundary space theory is applied. The second chapter analyzes the contradictions of several kinds of cultural psychology when they seek the identity of individual or collective subject. Under the guidance of Foucault's theory of space and power and McCann's theory of otherness, the third chapter analyzes the conflicts among different interest groups in his works. In order to reveal the persistent conflicts hidden in the social space of the United States in the period of industrial transformation. In short, the use of space criticism theory to interpret the spatial factors in main Street can make the conflicts between various heterogeneous forces in the works more obvious. Then reveal the profound social and cultural connotation of the works.
