【摘要】:路易斯·厄德里克的代表作《爱药》自1984年问世以来,深受好评,获得很多荣誉。该作品具有浓郁的印第安特色,并关注印第安人的生存状态。批评家们已从多个角度对其进行了研究,但对小说中蕴含的丰富的原型进行研究的尚不充分。本文依据原型批评理论,从人物、意象、母题三个方面对《爱药》中的神话原型进行了比较全面的分析。 论文共分六大部分:引言,四个章节和结论。 引言部分简介了路易斯·厄德里克的生平,她在当今文学史上的地位,.以及《爱药》的故事梗概和国内外的研究现状。 第一章概述了相关的原型批评理论,其中重点介绍了加拿大文学批评家诺思洛普·弗莱的原型批评理论。 第二章主要分析论述《爱药》中体现的原型人物,首先是代表大母神的玛丽,她是赋予生命的力量,生育了众多子女,并且勇敢保护家人,她还是一位独立,自强,具有奉献精神,勇于承担保护当地印第安部落利益的重任的女性。盖瑞是恶作剧者的代表,他具有善于变形的特点,并且凭借机智的头脑,多次成功越狱。琼是现代社会替罪羊的化身,她是美国社会种族歧视的牺牲品。 第三章主要分析论述小说中的原型意象。首先分析了作为原型意象的水所具有的丰富内涵:既是作为印第安人赖以生存的精神家园的象征,又代表着个体死亡与重生的媒介。其次,分析了小说中的小岛意象,作为一个孤立的小岛,它只是作者幻想的产物,当今印第安人已经无法重返过去的生活方式,小岛只是印第安人失落的天堂。 第四章分析了小说中出现的两个原型母题:追寻母题,和死亡与重生母题,通过对这两个主题的分析,反应了作者对如何摆脱当代印第安人生存困境的思考:脱离群体的琼只有在回归群体中才能重生,利普夏作为一个代表当今印第安种群的年轻代表只有坚定信念,回归传统,才能实现自我身份和价值。 《爱药》中蕴含了大量的神话原型,通过对原型人物,原型意象,原型主题的分析,我们可以看出作者对印第安民族生存状况的关怀和对如何摆脱这种局面的思考:只有回归传统的民族文化,才能实现身份认同。
[Abstract]:Since its publication in 1984, Louis Edric's masterpiece, Love Medicine, has been well received and received many accolades. Critics have studied it from many angles, but the abundant archetypes contained in the novel have not been fully studied. According to the theory of archetypal criticism, this paper focuses on the characters and images. The mythological archetypes in Medicine of Love are analyzed in three aspects of motif. The thesis is divided into six parts: introduction, four chapters and conclusions. The introduction introduces the life of Louise Edric, her position in the history of modern literature, and the outline of the story of Love Medicine, as well as the current research situation at home and abroad. The first chapter summarizes the archetypal criticism theory, which focuses on Canadian literary critic Northrop Frye's archetypal criticism theory. The second chapter mainly analyzes and discusses the archetypal characters embodied in "Love Medicine", first of all, Mary, who represents the Great Mother God. She gives birth to many children, and bravely protects her family. She is still an independent and self-strengthening woman. A woman with dedication and commitment to the task of protecting the interests of local Indian tribes. Gary is the representative of the prankster, he has a deformable character, and with his witty mind, Multiple escapes. Joan is the scapegoat of modern society. She is a victim of racial discrimination in American society. The third chapter mainly analyzes the archetypal image in the novel. Firstly, it analyzes the rich connotation of the water as the archetypal image: it is the symbol of the spiritual homeland on which the Indians depend for survival. It also represents the medium of individual death and rebirth. Secondly, the image of the island in the novel is analyzed. As an isolated island, it is only the product of the author's fantasy, and the Indians can no longer return to their past way of life. The island is a lost paradise for Indians. The fourth chapter analyzes the two archetypal motifs in the novel: the pursuit motif, and the death and rebirth motif, through the analysis of these two themes. It reflects the author's thoughts on how to get rid of the plight of contemporary Indians: Joan, who is out of the group, can only be reborn in the return group, and Liprecht, as a young representative of today's Indian population, has only a firm faith and returns to tradition. In order to achieve self identity and value. Love Medicine contains a lot of mythical archetypes, through the analysis of archetypal characters, archetypal images, archetypal themes, We can see the author's concern for the living conditions of the Indian nation and how to get rid of this situation: only by returning to the traditional national culture can the identity be realized.
