[Abstract]:From the perspective of mythological archetypal criticism, this paper analyzes the images of Jesus characters in Faulkner's later works Fable, and explores the causes and deep implications of Faulkner's portrayal of Jesus characters in the light of the specific cultural context of the 20th century. At the same time, combining with the traditional culture of American Southern society, this paper combines the mythological archetypal criticism, Jesus Christ with history and time, and then reveals that Faulkner achieved the purpose of "writing man" through the creation of archetypal characters. In fable, Faulkner criticizes and reconstructs the contrast between reality and belief, which makes modern people aware of their mistakes and sins, and presents the spiritual degradation and the crisis of faith in the whole western world at that time. A desolate state of affairs First of all, this paper discusses the origin between Faulkner's works and Christian cultural traditions. Faulkner grew up in a Christian environment, which explains why many of his characters can find archetypes in the Bible, especially the archetypes of Jesus. The Christian cultural background has exerted a profound influence on his creative purport, mode of thinking and his world outlook. Secondly, the author discusses concretely the image of Jesus in Faulkner's Fable: the corporal monitor who is suffering human suffering and suffering and willing to be scapegoat for human sin. Under the influence of Corporal squad leader's spirit, he resigned his military post to shoulder responsibility and hardship for the sake of peace and glory of mankind and other noble qualities. He is a "runner" who is conceived and shaped by the Christian culture and times under the background of World War I. Although he was crippled, he fought for his faith. This paper demonstrates Faulkner's unique attitude towards the world by means of mythological archetypal criticism. As a southern writer, Faulkner showed a clear sense of historical responsibility, he created immortal legend with broad vision and grand consciousness. Through the analysis of the text, this paper believes that the "fable" is not only aimed at the United States, but also the entire Western society, and even the entire human civilization! Modern Jesus figures like "runners" who live for good qualities such as peace, dignity, and honor also show that people have to endure hardship and hardship, or even die, but eventually thrive.
