[Abstract]:Romanticism was a cultural movement in Germany in the 1920s and 1930s. It came into being in a social environment characterized by political division, lack of a large city, and narrow social life. The fragmentation of the outside world has stimulated the desire for the integrity and unity of spiritual life. People "create a world for themselves with goods stored" ([1]) to oppose capitalism and fight against the secularized world. A century later, Hesse, the Last Knight of Romanticism, built the last inner position of Romanticism in the industrialized civil society with his imagination. This paper takes Hesse's novel "the Wild Wolf" as the analysis object, demonstrates the romantic spirit attitude represented by the wasteland wolf Haley, and expounds how Hesse showed the German Romantic's end in the civil society in the 1920s through Haley.
