从《理智与情感》和《劝导》的对比看奥斯丁早晚期作品中女性主义意识的改变

【摘要】:简·奥斯丁是十八世纪末十九世纪初英国著名的女性作家。她在短暂的写作生涯中共创作了六部完整小说,这六部小说均围绕女性的择偶情节展开,这也使得简·奥斯丁的作品成为女性主义文学评论经久不衰的研究对象。 针对奥斯丁作品的女性主义研究多关注于奥斯丁作品的主题、人物是否折射出女性主义意识,而有关奥斯丁早晚期作品中体现的女性主义意识是否随着时代发展发生改变的研究相对比较薄弱。 本文以劳拉·马尔维的男性凝视理论为视角,结合当时的历史语境,对比奥斯丁第一部小说《理智与情感》与最后一部小说《劝导》,研究奥斯丁早晚期作品体现出的女性主义意识,以期对解读奥斯丁作品中的女性主义意识是否发生改变提供一种新的角度,促进读者对奥斯丁早晚期作品的区别及其历史语境的理解。 通过分析得出,《理智与情感》中角色的凝视体现出对女性主义意识相对保守、否定的态度,这与当时森严的社会阶级制度,妇女的从属地位,女性作家低下的社会地位,新古典主义的特质是相吻合的。而《劝导》中角色的凝视体现出对女性主义意识相对肯定的态度,这与当时中产阶级的兴起,女性主义意识的觉醒,成功女性作家的身份意识,浪漫主义的特质是相吻合的。这两部作品体现出的这一变化与历史潮流的变化是一致。由此可见,奥斯丁早晚期作品中反映出的女性主义意识有所改变且历史潮流的变化是这一改变的可能性根源。
[Abstract]:Jane Austen is a famous British female writer in the late 18 th century and the early 19 th century. In her short writing career, she has created six complete novels, which all revolve around the female's choice of a spouse, which makes Jane Austen's works an enduring research object of feminist literary criticism. The study of feminism in Austen's works focuses on the theme of Austen's works and whether the characters reflect the feminist consciousness. However, the study of whether the feminist consciousness embodied in Austen's early and late works has changed with the development of the times is relatively weak. From the perspective of Laura Malvy's theory of male gaze, this paper combines the historical context of that time. Comparing the first novel "reason and emotion" with the last novel "persuasion", the author studies the feminist consciousness embodied in Austen's early and late works. It is expected to provide a new angle of understanding whether the feminist consciousness in Austen's works has changed or not, and to promote the readers' understanding of the difference and historical context of Austen's early and late works. Through analysis, it is concluded that the gaze of the characters in "reason and emotion" reflects a relatively conservative and negative attitude towards feminist consciousness, which is related to the strict social class system at that time, the subordinate status of women, and the low social status of female writers. The characteristics of neo-classicism coincide with each other. The gaze of the characters in persuasion reflects a relatively positive attitude towards feminist consciousness, which coincides with the rise of the middle class, the awakening of feminist consciousness, the identity consciousness of successful female writers, and the characteristics of romanticism. These two works reflect this change and the change of historical trend is consistent. It can be seen that the feminist consciousness reflected in Austen's works in the morning and evening period has changed and the change of historical trend is the possible source of this change.
