《中国佬》中的图像句子与视觉表征

【摘要】:汤亭亭在《中国佬》中植入多种图像符号,图像符号与文字符号一起构建文本表征系统,直接参与到意义的编码与生产之中。图像符号本身因其丰富性和系统性而构成一个视觉表征系统,与文字表征系统形成互相阐发、互相碰撞的互文性关系,混合交织而成图像句子,不断地为小说文本生成新的意义。表征文本是权力斗争的主要场所,在《中国佬》的视觉表征体系中,"帝国权力"将包括华裔、越南人在内的亚洲群体表征为属下与他者。作为掌握"在地权力"的边缘群体的一员,汤亭亭借助"在地化文本"进行反表征——运用图像句子来质询"帝国权力"将华人祖辈从主流历史中抹除,通过定型化的意指实践将其种族化、他者化,从而建构华裔族群自己的历史与身份。
[Abstract]:Maxine Hong Kingston inserts a variety of image symbols in Chinatown. Image symbols and text symbols construct a text representation system directly involved in the coding and production of meaning. Because of its richness and systematicness, the image symbol forms a visual representation system, and forms the intertextuality relation of explaining and colliding with the character representation system, and interweaves it into a picture sentence. Constantly generating new meaning for the novel text. The representation text is the main place of power struggle. In the visual representation system of "Chinatown", "Imperial Power" represents Asian groups including Chinese and Vietnamese as subordinates and others. As a member of the marginal group that grasps "local power", Maxine Hong Kingston uses "local text" to counter representation-using image sentences to question "imperial power" and erasing Chinese ancestors from mainstream history. By means of stereotyping, it means that it is racialized and other-oriented in practice, so as to construct the history and identity of the Chinese ethnic group itself.
