[Abstract]:The concept of "feminism" comes from Alice Walker, a black American writer. As a derivative of feminism, feminism not only integrates the essence of western feminism and black American feminism, but also extends its connotation to the equality and liberation of all women from all ethnic groups. In Walker's novel Purple, several black women break the shackles of oppression, recognize the value of themselves, change their destiny, and move forward hand in hand. The novel is unique, with the form of letters and the authentic black dialect for the reader to reveal the process of several heroines realizing themselves in a black family in the rural areas of the United States of America. In the process of her awakening to transformation, we see black women being subjected to the triple oppression of race, gender and class. Positive attitude towards life, but also see a long-lived ancient nation resplendent traditional culture. It's worth mentioning that Walker's feminism, while encouraging women to pursue themselves boldly, also emphasizes solidarity and inclusion of men to grow together. The father and son of Purple, Albert and Harper, from the beginning scolded the parents of their wives. To change oneself, to become the real strong backing of the family, this huge process of change is the embodiment of this thought. Different from the radical black feminism, feminism emphasizes the use of women's independence and tolerance to guide the transformation of men, and ultimately to achieve equality and harmony between the two sexes. What is controversial, however, is Walker's definition of a womanist. She thinks lesbians are also womanists. In Purple, the heroine's awakening and transformation are mainly guided by her gay self, Zagger. Some scholars criticized Walker for blasphemy and disrespect. Walker himself is not a lesbian advocate. Black women are at the bottom of society. Only when they unite can they change their destiny and gain equal freedom. In Walker's view, female love is a way and a way for black women to seek their own liberation and independence. Instead of encouraging women's love, she is tolerant of its positive role in women's self-awakening. Women are eventually integrated with men, equal and harmonious. This paper makes a tentative discourse analysis of the novel Purple from the perspective of feminism. The introduction part summarizes the author's life and the research status of the novel Purple. The text consists of four chapters. The first three chapters summarize the development process and important thoughts of feminism, black feminism and feminism respectively. The fourth chapter discusses the characters in the novel, the significance of female relations, patriarchal oppression and solidarity, as well as black sisterhood. The last part summarizes Walker's thought of feminism and its positive significance.
