[Abstract]:As an outstanding black female writer in American literary circles, Alice Walker (1944-) pays great attention to the living conditions of black people, especially the fate of black women. Her work, Purple, is a successful work on the growth of black women. Black women at the bottom of the society suffer from the double oppression of gender discrimination and racial discrimination. In the male-dominated patriarchal society, their voices are ignored and forced to remain silent. Since its publication, the novel has been regarded as the classic work of black women's literature, and has also aroused more and more domestic and foreign experts' interest in research. They focus on Walker's feminism and study it from the aspects of characters, structure, symbolism and linguistic characteristics respectively, but few scholars pay attention to the theme of female voice in Purple from the perspective of feminism. Susan Lanser, the representative figure of feminist narratology, argues that voice is the expression of ideology; that the voice of women is becoming louder and louder, and that it is an important symbol of the social status of women; people of color, Marginalized and silenced groups, in particular, are eager to make their voices heard. Alice Walker paid great attention to women's voices in her masterpiece, Purple. She realized the importance of the female characters in the process of self-liberation and self-identity. This paper aims to explore the feminism reflected in Purple by using the method of text analysis and using the female voice as the starting point. This paper points out that Walker's Purple Color is a typical work in pursuit of women's voices. This voice is not only a revolt against patriarchy, but also a voice that black women strive to find self-esteem, self-identity and harmonious coexistence between men and women, and ultimately achieve the core of Walker's womanist ideology-the complete existence of mankind, and at the same time, This paper also proves that communication between men and women on the basis of equal right of speech can promote the development of gender relations. In addition to the introduction and conclusion, this paper has two chapters. The second chapter mainly explores the feminist thoughts reflected in the works by analyzing the thematic significance of the female voice in Purple. This chapter first analyzes the transformation of the heroine Xili. She grew from a silent, submissive girl to an independent woman who dared to voice her thoughts. The use of epistolary narrative techniques in the novel further strengthens the power of sound. This part also analyzes the meaning of the image of singing and the causes of Sofia's temporary aphasia. The third chapter points out the relationship between female voice and communication. The paper explores the importance of communication between the sexes through the evolution of the relationship between Hillie and Albert, Sofia and Harper. This paper tries to explain the connotation of Walker's feminism from the perspective of "sound" and tries to prove that "sound" plays an important role in communication. It is only when women are given the right to speak that communication between the sexes becomes possible. It is hoped that this paper will help readers to better understand Walker's works and his feminism.
