对《红字》中新英格兰因素的探究

【摘要】：纳撒尼尔·霍桑是19世纪美国文学史上最具影响力的小说家之一。作为霍桑的代表作,直到今天,《红字》都是最畅销的书籍之一。《红字》因其丰富的想象,道德意义的含糊及对人性的深层次探索而广受欢迎。鉴于此种魅力,国内外的许多学者从诸多方面研究了这本小说,比如红字A的象征意义、道德说教、清教主义、女性主义和心理分析等。尽管小说中的清教主义被谈论地很多,但是对超验主义和历史背景的研究仍不充分。本论文从作为历史原型的波士顿镇及17世纪新英格兰的清教徒生活这两方面来研究其历史背景；从不可饶恕的罪恶,清教社会的严酷和市民的刻薄,及海斯特对清教社会的反抗这几方面探究其清教因素；而从超灵思想,女主人公海斯特的自立自强和自我认同这三方面探求其超验因素。相比较于其他学者的著作,本论文从历史、清教及超验主义的角度对新英格兰因素进行探究,并做一个全面的概括与总结。简言之,本论文以霍桑的《红字》为文本,并没有采用特定的理论,而是使用历史、宗教和文化的层面来研究,旨在为理解霍桑和他的《红字》提供一个新颖的视角。
[Abstract]:Nathaniel Hawthorne is one of the most influential novelists in the history of American literature in the 19 th century. As Hawthorne's masterpiece, to this day, the Scarlet letter is one of the best-selling books. The Scarlet letter is popular for its rich imagination, vague moral meaning and deep exploration of human nature. In view of this charm, many scholars at home and abroad have studied the novel from many aspects, such as the symbolic meaning of the Scarlet letter A, moral preaching, Puritanism, feminism and psychoanalysis. Although puritanism in the novel is much talked about, the study of transcendentalism and historical background is still insufficient. This thesis studies the historical background of Boston Town as a historical archetype and the Puritan life of New England in the 17th century. And Heist's resistance to the Puritan society explores its Puritan factors, and explores its transcendental factors from the three aspects of superspirit, heroine Hester's self-reliance and self-identity. Compared with the works of other scholars, this paper explores the New England factors from the perspective of history, Puritanism and transcendentalism, and makes a comprehensive summary and summary. In short, this thesis takes Hawthorne's Scarlet letter as its text and does not adopt any particular theory, but rather uses the historical, religious and cultural aspects to study it in order to provide a novel perspective for the understanding of Hawthorne and his Scarlet letter.
