《血中寒冬》的后殖民解读

【摘要】：詹姆斯·韦尔奇是印第安著名作家之一,他的作品《血中寒冬》发表于1974年,是印第安文艺复兴时期最重要的小说之一,也是美国印第安文学史上的里程碑。《血中寒冬》讲述了无名主人公寻求文化身份,回归部落传统的过程。作品中反映了印第安人被白人殖民者压迫的历史,也反映了无名主人公的疏离感和印第安人的生存困境等主题。本文从后殖民主义视角探讨《血中寒冬》中的后殖民主义倾向及其主要原因。文章共分为五章。第一章主要介绍了詹姆斯·韦尔奇,《血中寒冬》的主要情节及文体和意象,并说明了本文的研究意义和论文结构。第二章是理论基础和文献综述。理论部分介绍了后殖民主义的历史发展和主要观点,然后介绍了与本论文相关的后殖民理论中的具体概念。文献综述部分对国内外关于《血中寒冬》的研究进行了归纳总结。第三章是文章的主体部分。这部分主要介绍了《血中寒冬》中的后殖民主题和白人殖民压迫对人物的负面影响。指出该小说包括两个后殖民主题：一个是初遇殖民者和印第安文化的断裂；另一个是他者化和殖民压迫。随后还探讨了白人殖民压迫对主人公,主人公的父母和祖父祖母的负面影响。第四章用后殖民理论中的殖民者意识,双重意识和文化殖民等概念阐述了殖民压迫和无名主人公身份丢失产生的原因。第五章是文章的结论。本文发现《血中寒冬》是一部后殖民主义文学作品,它展现了殖民后的印第安保留地人的生活,有后殖民倾向。此外,殖民者意识促使白人认为他们是世界的中心,与他们不同的人都是他者,都是未开化的。因此他们肆意掠夺印第安人的土地,水和鱼等自然资源,将印第安人赶到保留地。白人还对印第安人进行文化殖民,迫使印第安人接受白人的文化。这使印第安人失去了自己的文化传统。无名主人公由于与印第安文化传统疏离而失去了自己的文化身份,这也是他没有名字的原因。
[Abstract]:James Welch is one of the most famous Indian writers. His book "Winter in Blood", published in 1974, is one of the most important novels of the Indian Renaissance. It is also a milestone in the history of American Indian literature. Winter in Blood tells the process of the nameless protagonist seeking cultural identity and returning to tribal tradition. The works reflect the history of Indian oppression by white colonists, as well as the alienation of the nameless protagonist and the plight of the Indians. This paper discusses the tendency of post-colonialism and its main reasons from the perspective of post-colonialism. The article is divided into five chapters. The first chapter mainly introduces the main plot, style and image of James Welch, Winter in Blood, and explains the significance and structure of this paper. The second chapter is the theoretical basis and literature review. The theoretical part introduces the historical development and main points of view of post-colonialism, and then introduces the specific concepts of post-colonial theory related to this paper. In the part of literature review, the domestic and international research on "Cold Winter in Blood" is summarized. The third chapter is the main part of the article. This part mainly introduces the post-colonial theme and the negative influence of the white colonial oppression on the characters. It is pointed out that the novel contains two postcolonial themes: one is the breakup of the colonists and Indian culture, the other is otherism and colonial oppression. Then it discusses the negative effects of the white colonial oppression on the protagonists, their parents and grandparents. The fourth chapter explains the causes of colonial oppression and the loss of identity of the nameless protagonist with the concepts of colonial consciousness, double consciousness and cultural colonization in postcolonial theory. The fifth chapter is the conclusion of the article. It is found in this paper that the Cold Winter in Blood is a postcolonial literary work which shows the life of the people in the Indian reservations after colonization and has a postcolonial tendency. Moreover, the colonists' consciousness prompted whites to think that they were the center of the world, and that those who were different from them were all other and uncivilized. So they plunder Indian land, water, fish and other natural resources, driving Indians to reserves. The whites also colonized the Indians, forcing them to accept the white culture. This deprived the Indians of their cultural traditions. The nameless hero loses his cultural identity because of his alienation from Indian cultural traditions, which is why he has no name.
