菲茨杰拉德《了不起的盖茨比》中现代科技产物的象征意义研究

【摘要】：本义旨在分析菲茨杰拉德的代表作《了不起的盖茨比》中所体现的现代科技产物并试图揭示阐述这些科技发明的象征意义。在《了不起的盖茨比》一书的创作中，菲茨杰拉德很大程度上依赖于这些新发明,如电话,汽车,电影,杂志等等。这些科技产物与小说中所描述的迷惘时代中的男女角色一起构成了他的文学文本。它们的作用往往是双重的,意义不可小觑。如,汽车既是一个载人工具,可以将书中角色适时地从此地快速带到彼地,又是一个可以致人死亡的破坏者。又如,电话既是人际交往传递信息的媒介,又是一个秘密揭示器,暴露了许多不可告人的秘密甚至罪行。除了在发展甚至构成剧情中发挥重要作用外,现代科技在揭示小说主题方面也具有很强的隐喻作用。除了引言和结语外,本文由四章构成。第一章集中探讨电和光,主要说明两位主人公盖茨比和黛西之间爱情的幻灭以及纽约城繁华表象下的虚妄。第二章重点从各个方面研究电话这一科技产物,将主要从电话对现代人道德及人际交往方面产生的影响等着手进行分析。电话这一交流媒介本身的特点造就了它的双重作用,另外在这一章中还将分析小说中微妙的人物关系。第三章将研究照相机和摄影机,第一节分析菲茨杰拉德在小说中对摄影术和照片近乎痴迷的描写和运用,第二节则从电影学角度分析《了不起的盖茨比》,试图闸释它在此方面的特点和最终的影响。最后一章将汽乍的普及和便利性与道德和犯罪相联系作以分析研究,同时本章中还会加入菲茨杰拉德其他小说中汽车的意象进行对比分析。
[Abstract]:The purpose of this text is to analyze the modern technological products embodied in Fitzgerald's masterpiece, the Great Gatsby, and to try to reveal the symbolic significance of explaining these technological inventions. In the creation of the Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald relied heavily on these new inventions, such as the telephone, cars, movies, magazines, and so on. Together with the characters of men and women in the lost era described in the novel, these scientific and technological products constitute his literary texts. Their role is often twofold, meaning can not be underestimated. For example, a car is both a manned vehicle that can bring the characters of the book from here and there quickly, and a destroyer who can kill people. For example, telephone is not only a medium for interpersonal communication, but also a secret disclosing device, revealing many unspeakable secrets and even crimes. In addition to playing an important role in the development and even the formation of the plot, modern science and technology also plays a strong metaphorical role in revealing the theme of the novel. In addition to the introduction and conclusion, this paper consists of four chapters. The first chapter focuses on electricity and light, mainly explaining the disillusionment between the two protagonists Gatsby and Daisy, and the vanity of the bustling appearance of New York City. The second chapter focuses on the research of telephone, which is a product of science and technology from various aspects, mainly from the impact of telephone on the moral and interpersonal communication of modern people. Telephone, the medium of communication, has its dual function. In addition, it will analyze the subtle relationship between characters in the novel. The third chapter examines cameras and cameras. The first section analyzes Fitzgerald's near-obsession with photography and photographs in his novels, while the second looks at the Great Gatsby from a cinematological perspective. Attempts to release its characteristics in this respect and the ultimate impact. The last chapter makes an analysis of the relationship between popularity and convenience, morality and crime. At the same time, this chapter also adds the image of automobile in Fitzgerald's other novels for comparative analysis.
