《魔戒》洞穴意象的原型分析
[Abstract]:As an integral part of English literature, English fantasy literature has a long history, involving a variety of subjects. Of which, J.R.R. Tolkien's Ring of the Rings series deserves to be one of the most representative of fantasy literature in the world. The Trilogy of the Ring and its prelude, the Hobbit, were published between 1937 and 1955. Under the background of the rapid expansion of industrial civilization, human society experienced the baptism of the first world war and the second world war, and the author Tolkien witnessed the evil consequences of the expansion of human desire and the destruction of human nature. In order to better explain the situation to the reader, the author uses a lot of symbolic images in his works. Tolkien linked the cycle of construction, destruction and reconstruction of human life through the motif of cave imagery in the Ring of the Rings series. The first part mainly analyzes the cave image which symbolizes the strength of life construction. One is to reflect the paradise scene of human innocence-the Hobbit residence-(B a g E n d); in the bottom of the bag in (S h i r e). The second is the first conflict between human being and its dark side of human nature and human desire-the (g o b l i nc a v e). Of Geosome Cave in the Mist Mountains of (M i s t y M o u n t a i n s) The second part mainly discusses the cave images that symbolize the power of destruction of life. One is the two dwarf caves occupied by two kinds of monsters that symbolize the power of internal and external destruction-(M i n e s o fM o r i a), the mineral vein that gave birth to (B a l r o g), and the giant. The Lonely Mountain (L o n e l y M o u n t a i n); of (S m a u g) in Longshi Maugo The other is Torreheugou (T o r e c h U n g o l), the nest of the giant spider (S h e l o b), symbolizing that humanity has fallen into an abyss that cannot be saved. The third part focuses on the analysis of the cave images symbolizing the strength of life reconstruction. One is the road of the dead, which symbolizes human nature and self-redemption, (P a t h s o f t h e D e a d);. The second is to return to the symbol of the revival of human nature, (S h i r e), also corresponds to the first chapter, complete the construction of human life, destruction and reconstruction of this cycle. Although Tolkien denies that his works have the function of referring to reality, it is not difficult for readers to read through the Lord of the Rings and combine the author's life experiences to find that his works are full of symbolic images. The cave images play a significant role in the expression of the theme intention and the display of the scene implication.
