英语视频观看对高中生词汇附带习得的影响

【摘要】:词汇是语言学习的重要组成部分,而对于许多英语学习者来说,词汇学习则枯燥无味、繁重,而且容易遗忘。毋庸置疑,词汇成为英语学习中最为困难的部分。学者们十分关注词汇习得并尝试从不同角度对其进行研究。1985年,Nagy,Herman和Anderson首次提出了“附带词汇习得”,自此,二语领域中词汇附带习得的研究吸引了越来越多的关注。当前,国内外对词汇附带习得的研究很多,但大多关注点在阅读是否促进附带词汇习得上,而关于视听环境下英语词汇附带习得的研究甚少。中国拥有广大的英语学习人群,而大部分研究多以在校英语专业或非英语专业的大学生作为研究对象,针对高中生这一学习主体的研究则较为少见。本篇论文试图探讨英语视频对高中生词汇附带习得的影响,并尝试回答以下问题:1.英语视频观看对高中生词形和词义附带习得有怎样的影响?2.不同视频观看任务对高中生词汇附带习得的影响有何差异?3.高中生对通过英语视频附带习得词汇总体态度如何?本文选取常德市汉寿县第一中学高中一年级两个自然班的学生作为实验对象。实验过程中,两个班学生观看带有中英文字幕的英语视频——《歌舞青春》节选,并提前告知学生观看视频后需完成相应任务。其中一班的学生观看视频然后划出陌生的单词,二班学生观看视频后则以组为单位执行不同的观看任务。一组的学生完成总结写作任务,二组学生回答对错问题,而第三组的学生无须完成任何任务。任务结束后,三组学生将进行即时测试,时间为15分钟。测试包括目标词的词形辨认和词义辨认。即时测试完成后,教师发放阅读材料,作为干扰测试。延时测试则安排在一周以后进行,不再观看视频,试题内容一样,但顺序有所打乱。测试后,发放调查表。收集数据后,运用社科研究统计软件(spss,21.0)对数据进行处理和分析,主要结论如下:1.高中学生能够通过观看合适英语视频附带习得词形与词义。在即时测试和延时测试中,学生对于词汇的词形习得和词义习得都获得了满意的成绩。然而,通过前后两次测试的比较,不难发现学生对英语视频观看后习得的词形与词义会容易随时间而遗忘。2.观看任务影响学生词汇附带习得,任务投入量大小与学生词汇附带习得存在一定的正相关。即时测试和延时测试中高投入量的小组在词形和词义习得方面都优于低投入量的小组。3.高中生对通过英语视频来附带习得词汇总体持赞同意见,对观看视频后完成相关的任务也较为同意。不同学生视频观看习惯不一样,但总体来说,汉寿县第一中学高一学生英语视频观看频率较低,他们对观看双语字幕的生活片较为感兴趣。希望本文的研究发现能够对理论研究和实际教学提供一定的启示。理论上,本次研究是对输入假说、深度加工理论和投入量假说的验证,同时,也为国内词汇附带习得研究展示新的研究视角。实际上,此次研究将给教学一线的英语教师就如何有效词汇教学提供建议,也对苦于英语学习的高中学子如何有效习得词汇提供帮助。
