【摘要】：正大约十年前,读陈寅恪读到《赠蒋秉南序》,在"此岂寅恪少时所自待及异日他人所望于寅恪者哉"的慨恨之后,笔锋一转,"虽然,欧阳永叔少学韩昌黎之文,晚撰五代史记,作义儿冯道诸传,贬斥势利,尊崇气节,遂一匡五代之浇漓,返之淳正。故天水一朝之文化,竟为我民族遗留之瑰宝。孰谓空文于治道学术无裨益耶?"少年读史,为之困惑。寅恪先生推重司马温公和《资治通鉴》,谈及欧阳修和《五代史记》(即《新五代史》)处并不多,何以到自做定论时,却悬为标准?寅恪先生的文章,暗蕴欧洲史学的影响,表彰"自由之精神,独立之思想",又在何种意义上与
