《大英殖民帝国》（第八、九章）汉译实践报告

《大英殖民帝国》作为历史文本,享誉世界的史学家阿尔弗雷德·考尔德科特从经济、政治、文化等方面高度概括了大英殖民帝国的兴衰。本报告以《大英殖民帝国》第八章贸易和贸易政策、第九章劳动力的供给为翻译分析对象,其中第八章对贸易和贸易政策做了详尽的阐述,从经济角度深入探讨了殖民地的商业发展以及其政策的变化对殖民地进程的影响,主要讲述英国商业联盟的优势与劣势;商业联合会的成员以及贸易与政治之间的关系。第九章劳动力的供给,主要叙述了为满足殖民地劳动力的需求,欧洲殖民地采取了五种权宜之计,其主要涉及黑奴、苦力、自由移民等。在彼得纽马克交际翻译理论的指导下,根据纽马克对文本的分类,该翻译素材归属于信息类文本。译者灵活地运用多种翻译策略,从词、句和篇章三个层面对文本进行分析。词汇方面,主要运用了词性转换、增补、删减等策略;句子层面,主要运用了句子合并、拆译等策略;篇章层面,主要运用了重复、语篇连贯等策略。交际理论的指导,使翻译过程中遇到的困难和障碍得以解决,译文的语言更加通畅,同时译文也更满足目标读者的需求。本报告首先介绍了该翻译任务的背景和意义,基于对文本词、句、篇章的分析和委托方的要求,译前主要收集了关...
