[Abstract]:An art historian who is in the midst of a group of scholars who admire Edward Gibbon in other fields is bound to find himself somewhat out of place. Gibbon's books tend to deal with visual art less or at once. Although he counted important artists, enthusiasts and art theorists such as Reynolds, Walpole [Horace Walpole] and Burke as his acquaintances, But their passion for art did not leave a mark on his character, nor did he actively join the two best friends in their pursuit of art. 1 770s.
