斯坦纳文艺思想评述

【摘要】:乔治·斯坦纳是当代美国著名的人文主义批评大师,也是当今最为杰出的知识分子。他曾任教于普林斯顿大学、剑桥大学、日内瓦大学等知名学府,研究领域涉及文学理论、比较文学、翻译理论等。同时,他也是积极的文化记者,常年在《纽约客》等文学杂志撰写专栏,积极关注时事与最新文化动态。甚至,他还是屡获奖项的小说家。 在斯坦纳看来,我们这个时代的语言与文学迎来了深重的危机:一方面,自然科学正逐渐掌握整体的话语权,,侵蚀了文学与语言“不证自明”的权利;另一方面,大众消费文化、媒体及极权主义政治与暴行,为了掩饰或逃避意义而简化语言,使得语言的活力进一步消退。 作为一名犹太幸存者,斯坦纳一方面承接了中欧人文主义的衣钵,一方面将这种幸存者意识融入自己的文艺思想,自觉地承担起古典文化传承的职责,试图力挽语言与文化堕落之狂澜。 斯坦纳的翻译理论整体上属于阐释学派,同时吸收了本雅明与海德格尔的精髓,提出了著名的翻译四步骤:“信赖”、“侵入”、“吸收”与“补偿”。 同时,通天塔问题不仅局限于翻译理论之中,也是斯坦纳文艺思想的根本问题之一。非人性的暴行与娱乐至死的消费,污染与消解了语言的功能,传统文学与经典文化滑向了沉默的深渊。但在斯坦纳并未绝望,他看到一种新兴的文体,毕达哥拉斯文体——融合音乐、自然科学、哲学等各种文化要素——正在冉冉升起,有望成为这个时代的声音。 斯坦纳总结了新批评等各类文学批评流派,开创了独具特色的“老式批评”。这是一种关注经典,敬畏文学的批评方式。它既注重文本细读,详细解剖各类技巧,又注重社会思想、意识形态及文学传统的考察,是一种综合性的道德想象方式,具有“反理论”、“经典性”、“比较的”、“风格性”与“翻译的”等特点。
[Abstract]:George Steiner is a famous contemporary American master of humanistic criticism and the most outstanding intellectual today. He has taught in Princeton University, University of Cambridge, University of Geneva and other famous universities. The research field involves literary theory, comparative literature, and translation theory. At the same time, he is also a positive cultural journalist, in the year of < New York. Guest and other literary magazines write columns to keep an eye on current affairs and latest cultural developments. Even he is a novelist who has won numerous awards.
In Steiner's view, the language and literature of our times have a profound crisis. On the one hand, natural science is gradually mastering the whole right of discourse and eroding the rights of literature and language "without proof"; on the other hand, the mass consumption culture, media and totalitarianism and atrocities are simplified to cover or escape the meaning. Language makes the vitality of the language recede.
As a Jewish survivor, Steiner, on the one hand, took on the cultural legacy of the Chinese and European humanism. On the one hand, it integrated the consciousness of the survivor into his own literary and artistic ideas, consciously assumed the responsibility of inheriting the classical culture, and tried to save the waves of language and cultural degeneration.
As a whole, Steiner's theory of translation belongs to the school of interpretation, and at the same time absorbs the essence of Walter Benjamin and Heidegger, and puts forward the famous four steps of Translation: "trust", "invasion", "absorption" and "compensation".
At the same time, the question of the pagoda is not only confined to the theory of translation, but also one of the fundamental problems of Steiner's literary and artistic thoughts. The non human atrocities and the consumption of entertainment to death, pollution and elimination of language function, traditional literature and classic culture slipped into the abyss of silence. But in Steiner, he did not despair, and he saw a new style, Bida. Glas's style -- Fusion of music, natural science, philosophy and other cultural elements -- is rising and is expected to become the voice of this era.
Steiner summed up various literary criticism schools, such as new criticism, and created a unique "old-fashioned criticism". This is a way of criticism that pays attention to classics and reverence literature. It pays attention to text reading, detailed anatomy of various techniques, social thought, ideology and literary tradition, which is a comprehensive moral imagination. It has the characteristics of "anti theory", "classic", "comparative", "style" and "translation".
