[Abstract]:Children's literature plays a very important role in the process of children's development. It provides a wonderful spiritual world for children and enables them to acquire knowledge while enjoying happiness. With the continuous development of cultural exchanges in the world, children's literature communication has also flourished. A large number of foreign children's literature in China can be traced back to the late Qing Dynasty. Since then, the number of children's literature translated has been increasing, which plays an important role in the development of Chinese children's literature. However, the theory and research on children's literature translation lags far behind. As Xu Dirong pointed out in the sixth issue of "Translation of China" published in 2004, the translation of children's literature is unbalanced in both theory and practice: the translation of children's literature emerges in endlessly. But the special research on children's literature translation is very few. Relevance theory is a pragmatic theory of communication and cognition, which is the focus of attention in cognitive pragmatics. Now, this theory is being applied by more and more scholars in the field of translation. According to relevance theory, translation is a double motion-inferential communication process, which is a dynamic ternary relationship involving three communicative subjects: the author of the original text, the translator and the reader of the target text. The optimal relevance is the core of relevance theory. The translator should follow relevance theory to choose the correct context hypothesis from the potential cognitive context, from the phonological level, syntactic level and semantic level of the original text. The communicative intention of the original author is inferred from various communicative clues such as pragmatic level, and the correct assumption is made on the cognitive context of the target language recipient (Meng Jiangang 2000: 25), so as to select the appropriate translation to achieve the best relevance effect. Try to bring the author's intention into line with the readers' expectations. After introducing the general situation of children's literature, the present situation of children's literature translation and the research and application of relevance theory, this paper attempts to apply relevance theory to the translation of Oscar Wang Erde's works of fairy tales (The Happy Prince). This paper discusses the guiding role of the theory in children's literature translation from three aspects: culture, language style and rhetoric. By using relevance theory, this paper makes a detailed analysis of a large number of translation examples in translated texts, and concludes that in children's literature translation, translators should adopt translation strategies flexibly, taking into account the cognitive ability and expectations of children's readers. Create a translation of the best relevance.
