《马赛勒斯》:《织工马南》早期传教士译本研究

【摘要】：本文将乔治·艾略特的小说《织工马南》之早期传教士译本《马赛勒斯》作为研究宗教与翻译文学关系的模板,以此考察传教士翻译文学中的普遍现象和规律。译者亮乐月受制于美以美会传教士的身份,通过改写、增删、刻意误读等方式强化作品的基督教色彩,与原著的人本主义思想有很大出入,体现了宗教对文学翻译的操控。译者甚至不惜为抬高自身所属差会地位,进行与原著背道而驰的改写。该译本还对儿童给予了女性特有的关注,显示了性别意识与宗教因素对翻译的双重干预。译著凸显了女婴的形象及其对灵魂的救赎作用,以基督教的儿童观重新定位儿童的社会地位,有助于推动近代中国儿童观念的转变。译著强化了小说的宗教寓言性质,具有明显的现实指向性。它反映了近代来华传教士试图借助文学翻译传播宗教思想,对处于剧变中的中国近代社会进行基督教的引导,以确立基督教信仰的有效性,促使其被中国社会广泛接受。
[Abstract]:In this paper, the early missionary translation of George Eliot's novel Manan of Weaving Man is used as a template to study the relationship between religion and translated literature, so as to investigate the common phenomena and laws in the translation literature of the missionaries. By rewriting, adding and deleting, deliberately misreading the Christian color of the works, the translator is subject to the preacher status of the United States and the United States, which is quite different from the humanistic thought of the original work, which reflects the manipulation of religion in literary translation. Translators do not even want to elevate their membership of the Council status, and the original works contrary to the rewriting. The translation also pays special attention to children and shows the dual interference of gender consciousness and religious factors in translation. The translated works highlight the image of the baby girl and its salvation to the soul, and reorient the social status of the child with the Christian view of children, which helps to promote the transformation of the concept of children in modern China. The translation strengthens the religious fable nature of the novel and has obvious realistic directionality. It reflects that modern missionaries in China tried to spread religious thoughts by means of literary translation in order to establish the validity of Christian belief and make it widely accepted by Chinese society.
