“民族性”建构的大众化之路

【摘要】: 民族性问题在文学理论中往往与世界性,现代化,全球化相对应,是近年来学界热议的话题之一。在以往的理论中,民族性是文学的基本属性,有着指向传统文化的表象和传达民族精神的内核。但通过对现代文学史上不同时期对于民族性内涵的回顾。我们发现民族性内涵的多变和不确定性。它时而作为传统文化的象征遭到西化思潮的抵制,时而成为新兴民族国家建立的帮手,成为塑造新的民族性格和精神的场域,时而又与阶级话语相结合,向民粹主义靠拢。文学的民族性的产生到底源于何时,他与其他意识形态的联系为何如此紧密,他在民族国家的构型中起到了什么作用?这都是值得我们思考的问题。 在广读民族主义理论和大部分具有时代代表性作品的基础上,尝试着以归类分析的方式,对民族性的内涵与建构方式做出自己的回答。论文分三个部分展开论述。 一、有关民族想象与文学的民族性 这一章从民族的定义出发,辨析了民族与族群等相近意义概念的区别。揭示出民族的现代属性和建构过程中的想象特质。近代英国学者安德森将民族定义为一个被想象的、本质有限的、同时享有主权的“共同体”。而文学和其他叙事文本在民族的建构过程中起到了推波助澜的作用。文学与现代民族主义运动之间的亲密合作促成了现代民族国家的建立和认同。而民族国家想象的建构需要也促进了现代文学和文艺理论关于民族性,民族文学的发展。 二、民族性建构的经典模式 文学作为民族性建构的主要场域,对于民族性的表达主要通过民族国家文学和文化民族主义两种路径。民族国家文学的主要特征是,它的叙述主题是民族和国家。常常是以一种“大我”形态出现的叙事模式。结合中国现代文学史,我们发现民族国家文学承担着对于新的民族国家的想象和对新中国合法性的论证。 文化民族主义则是以文化的特殊性来来确认民族身份。它是民族精英们企图利用“文化”的独特性来确认和巩固民族文化身份的一种抗争。新时期文学中以对地域的开拓、对民族风情、民族语言文化与民间发掘为代表的寻根文学就表达了一种强烈的民族文化回归愿望。 三、现在,我们在怎样想象民族? 而当文学的影响日渐式微,视像化的大众传播媒介日益盛行的时代,民族性的建构基本舍弃了严肃文学作为民族性建构的阵地。而选择了能连接更多人群,传播大众文化的电视,电影,网络等大众传播媒介作为载体。然而在新的传播方式下,民族性的建构的话语构成则更为复杂。消费文化,国家意识形态,资本逻辑与艺术精神,都在这种格局中相互冲突、相互利用和相互融合。这时的民族性建构呈现出以国家政治意识形态为主导的多种价值观念、多种社会立场、多种意识形态体系共生并存。
[Abstract]:The problem of nationality is often corresponding to the world, modernization and globalization in literary theory, and it is one of the hot topics in academic circles in recent years. In the previous theory, nationality is the basic attribute of literature, which points to the appearance of traditional culture and conveys the core of national spirit. However, through the review of the connotation of nationality in different periods of modern literary history. We find the variability and uncertainty of the connotation of nationality. Sometimes, as a symbol of traditional culture, it has been resisted by the westernization trend of thought, sometimes become the helper of the new nation-state, become the field of shaping the new national character and spirit, and sometimes combine with class discourse to get close to populism. When did the nationality of literature come into being, why did he have so close ties with other ideologies, and what role did he play in the configuration of the nation-state? These are all questions worthy of our consideration. On the basis of extensive reading of nationalism theory and most of the representative works of the times, this paper tries to make its own answers to the connotation and construction of nationality by means of classification and analysis. The paper is divided into three parts. First, the chapter on the nationality of national imagination and literature analyzes the differences of similar meaning concepts between nation and ethnic group from the definition of nation. It reveals the modern attributes of the nation and the imaginative characteristics in the process of construction. Anderson, a modern British scholar, defined a nation as an imaginary, essentially limited and sovereign community. Literature and other narrative texts play an important role in the process of national construction. The close cooperation between literature and modern nationalist movement contributed to the establishment and identification of modern nation-state. The construction needs of nation-state imagination also promote the development of modern literature and literary theory on nationality and national literature. Second, as the main field of national construction, the classical model literature of national construction mainly expresses nationality through two paths: nation-state literature and cultural nationalism. The main feature of nation-state literature is that its narrative theme is nation and state. It is often a narrative mode in the form of "big self". Combined with the history of modern Chinese literature, we find that nation-state literature undertakes the imagination of the new nation-state and the demonstration of the legitimacy of the new China. Cultural nationalism confirms national identity with the particularity of culture. It is a struggle by the national elite to use the uniqueness of "culture" to confirm and consolidate the national cultural identity. In the new period literature, represented by the development of region, national customs, national language and culture and folk excavation, the root-seeking literature expresses a strong desire for the return of national culture. Third, now, how are we imagining the nation? When the influence of literature is decreasing and the visual mass media is becoming more and more popular, the construction of nationality basically abandons serious literature as the position of national construction. And choose the mass media such as TV, film, network and so on, which can connect more people and spread mass culture as the carrier. However, under the new mode of communication, the discourse composition of the construction of nationality is more complex. Consumer culture, national ideology, capital logic and artistic spirit all conflict with each other, use and integrate with each other in this pattern. At this time, the construction of nationality presents a variety of values dominated by national political ideology, a variety of social positions, and the symbiosis of various ideological systems.
