葛浩文英译《呼兰河传》的杂合性研究

【摘要】：萧红是中国一位极富才华的女作家,在其短暂的一生中创作了大量的文学作品.《呼兰河传》是她后期的代表作,有着很高的文学价值。尽管国内很多学者研究这本小说,但是研究小说英译本的人却少之又少,这对小说在英语世界的推广无疑是件憾事。 葛浩文先生是美国首席汉学家和翻译家,他对中国文学的翻译和研究对当代中西文化的交流起到了非常重要的作用。尤其值得一提的是,正是葛浩文先生对莫言作品的翻译,使得莫言逐步被西方国家了解,从而最终填补了中国诺贝尔文学奖的空白。 由于葛浩文特殊的文化身份,以及汉语与英语之间的巨大差异,译本中不可避免地会出现杂合的语言和文化。因此,笔者认为用霍米米巴巴的杂合理论去研究葛浩文翻译的第一部小说《呼兰河传》将对研究他的翻译作品和翻译价值观提供一些启示,同时也会对我们的翻译实践活动提供一定的参考价值。 本文一共有四章,第一章从多个角度分析了霍米巴巴杂合理论的概念和实践价值,并讨论了杂合与文化、语言和翻译之间的多元互动关系。在第二章中,笔者着重分析了葛浩文杂合文化身份的成因,以及这些因素对他翻译活动的影响,同时也指出了葛浩文在翻译过程中的价值观局限。本文的第三章把研究视角转向了《呼兰河传》的作者萧红女士及其文本信息,在这一章中笔者从这部小说产生的时代和社会背景角度分析了这本小说原作和英译本的背景信息,为第四章的对比研究打下了文本基础。第四章中,笔者首先通过英汉对比研究分析了译本中杂合语言的特点。接下来运用杂合理论,同时结合了社会学、美学、心理学等学科的理论,从宗教文化,民俗文化等方面对英译本中文化杂合的出现进行了研究。并在本章的最后一节总结了葛浩文英译本的成功之处和不足之处。 文章的最后,笔者通过资料研究得出了本文的结论：译者的杂合文化身份决定译本的杂合性,译本杂合性的高低取决于文化双方在语言文化上差异的程度。并就此提出了几点笔者个人对翻译实践的建议。
