文言文英译衔接对比研究

【摘要】：自上个世纪九十年代以来,国内外翻译理论家都渐渐地将篇章语言学应用于翻译研究中,篇章语言学的核心是衔接理论,对于翻译中的衔接如何处理这一问题,中外学者也都给予了高度重视,很多文章著作也都从不同的角度对这一问题做了大量的研究。但大部分对于汉英翻译的研究都局限于现代汉语和英语之间的对比而忽略了文言文和英语之间的翻译研究,对于文言文译成英语的衔接手段展开全面、系统的描述分析的著作则是微乎其微。汉英语篇结构差异十分明显,古汉语和英语的差别则可想而知。现代汉语译成英语过程中,衔接手段的处理往往比较复杂,而将语言极其简练的文言文翻译成英语,如何处理其中的衔接手段则更需要译者了解和掌握两种语言的差异。翻译是一项实践活动,因此简单的双语对比并不能看出文言文和英语之间的差异,对此,本文选取了苏轼的《石钟山记》、陶渊明的《桃花源记》、范仲淹的《岳阳楼记》以及欧阳修的《醉翁亭记》一共四篇文言文著作,每篇文章都选取了中外两个不同国度译者的译本作了统计分析,并比较每两个英译本衔接方式、手段的异同。此外,还将两个译本和原文对比,以期了解在文言文英译过程中衔接问题是如何处理的,为今后文言文英译的衔接处理提供参考经验。该论文由五个章节组成,第一部分为引言,介绍了本文的选题背景,研究目的,研究方法,研究意义以及局限之处。第二部分为文献综述,回顾了国内外对于篇章语言学,衔接理论及其和翻译结合起来的研究历史和现状。第三部分为本文的理论基础,论述了韩礼德以及哈桑对于照应,替代,省略,连接以及词汇衔接的理论。第四章在第三章的理论基础上,对所选取的四篇文言文及其两个译文版本进行对比分析,得出在将文言文译成英语时衔接手段的处理方法与技巧。第五章则对第四章的对比研究进行总结,得出文言文译成英文时衔接手段处理策略,并指出此研究的不足之处,对日后加强作者研究能力做出展望。
[Abstract]:Since the 1990s, translation theorists at home and abroad have gradually applied textual linguistics to translation studies. Cohesion theory is the core of textual linguistics. Chinese and foreign scholars have also attached great importance to this issue, and many articles and works have done a lot of research on this issue from different angles. However, most of the studies on Chinese-English translation are confined to the contrast between modern Chinese and English, while ignoring the study of translation between classical Chinese and English. Systematic descriptive analysis of the work is minimal. The differences between Chinese and English are obvious, but the differences between ancient Chinese and English are obvious. In the process of translating modern Chinese into English, the processing of cohesive devices is often more complicated. However, how to deal with the cohesive devices in classical Chinese, which is extremely concise, requires the translator to understand and master the differences between the two languages. Translation is a practical activity, so simple bilingual contrast can not see the difference between classical Chinese and English. This paper selects four classical writings of Su Shi (Shi Zhongshan), Tao Yuanming (Peach Blossom Source), Fan Zhongyan (Yueyang Tower) and Ouyang Xiu (drunken Weng Pavilion). In each article, the translators' versions from two different countries are selected for statistical analysis, and the similarities and differences of cohesive modes and means in each of the two English versions are compared. In addition, the two versions are compared with the original text in order to understand how to deal with the cohesion problem in the process of translating classical Chinese into English, and to provide reference experience for the future cohesion processing of classical Chinese translation into English. This paper consists of five chapters. The first part is the introduction, which introduces the background, purpose, method, significance and limitation of this paper. The second part is a literature review, which reviews the research history and current situation of textual linguistics, cohesion theory and their combination with translation at home and abroad. The third part is the theoretical basis of this paper, which discusses Halliday and Hasan's theory of reference, substitution, ellipsis, connection and lexical cohesion. Chapter four, based on the theory of Chapter three, makes a comparative analysis of the four selected classical Chinese texts and their two versions, and concludes the processing methods and techniques of cohesive devices in translating classical Chinese into English. The fifth chapter summarizes the contrastive research in Chapter four and points out the strategies of cohesive devices when classical Chinese is translated into English and points out the shortcomings of this study and makes a prospect to strengthen the author's research ability in the future.
