[Abstract]:Ernest Hemingway (July 21, 1899-July 2, 1961), the sixth winner of the Nobel Prize in American Literature, is one of the most influential writers in the 20th century. Hemingway's concise and powerful writing style has an incalculable impact on American literary circles. However, Hemingway's attitude to women has been a controversial topic for many years. Many scholars believe that Hemingway discriminates against women despite his achievements, which is why he has repeatedly appeared as a "tough man" in his works, and some critics even call him a man who "abhors women". However, if we can re-examine Hemingway's works from the perspective of ecological feminism, it is not difficult to find that he is not a writer with a one-sided male character, as most people think. Lena. Sanderson clearly sees this and points out in her book Hemingway and his woman: "Hemingway created an ideal gender complementarity in his work and devoted his life to exploring this ideal relationship." Although scholars at home and abroad have studied Hemingway deeply, it is mainly aimed at several famous works of Hemingway. The criticism of the 1950 novel "crossing the river into the forest" has been basically negative since it was published. However, it seems that such criticism is inevitably unfair. Although it is not the most successful novel, it is still an important work for a complete understanding of Hemingway's later works. This paper attempts to explore the formation of Ernest Hemingway's ecological women's thought, and uses the theory of ecological feminism to interpret "crossing the river into the forest", which shows that Hemingway is a writer with female consciousness and ecological consciousness. So that we can have a new understanding of Hemingway. This paper consists of six chapters. The first chapter briefly introduces Hemingway's life and novel "crossing the river into the forest". The second chapter is the literature review, summarized the domestic and foreign research on Hemingway and "crossing the river into the forest". The third chapter is the theoretical part, mainly from the development and main ideas of ecological feminism. The fourth and fifth chapters are the main part of this paper. Chapter four explores the causes of Ernest Hemingway's ecological female thought from the influence of his parents, social background, personal life experience and reading experience. Chapter five analyzes the novel "crossing the river into the forest" from the perspective of ecological feminism. The sixth chapter is the conclusion, pointing out that Hemingway is a writer with ecological consciousness and female consciousness. The seemingly insipid style of description implies Hemingway's deep reflection on the relationship between man and nature, and between men and women.
