《喧哗与骚动》的叙事特色研究

【摘要】：威廉·福克纳的名作《喧哗与骚动》在叙事上是一部很有特色的小说。在小说中,过去和现在相交织,重复与省略时有发生,聚焦和声音灵活多变。这些共同构成了该小说复杂的叙事特色并以此传达出作者对待现实社会迷茫的心态。 本文以热内特叙事话语理论为框架对《喧哗与骚动》中的叙事特色进行研究,挖掘不同叙事特色背后作品的深层涵义。 论文第一章讨论叙事时序的特色。由于作者大量运用意识流的表现手法,《喧哗与骚动》的时序非常混乱。小说家正是籍此来表达他对传统南方贵族家庭在内战后的重建过程中因失去财富以及生活方式的改变而日趋没落的情形。班吉是一个白痴,现实生活中的影像和声音经常使他的思绪回到过去。昆丁是一个对时间的流逝感到极其迷茫与痛苦的人,他的意识经常沉溺于过去。杰生虽然是一个不关心过去的人,但是凯蒂失贞一事对他造成的损失使他无法释怀,折磨了他一生。他们被困于过去,福克纳因此也将描述的重心偏移到过去。这样的描写也反映出康普生一家或者是南方贵族无法走出过去的阴影,在现实社会面前人格异化的悲剧命运。 本论文的第二章探讨小说叙事聚焦的特色。不同的叙事聚焦取得了不同的艺术效果,同时也读者提供了多角度、立体化的视角去审视这些聚焦背后作者想展现的康普生家族悲剧的命运和荒芜的精神。 论文第三章研究小说的叙事重复的特色。小说对凯蒂失贞、对大姆娣和昆丁的“物理死亡”以及卡洛琳和凯蒂的“精神死亡”都经行了重复的叙事,小说的死亡主题由此也得到了很好的体现。失贞在这里只是对南方传统的违背的一个代表性事件,它使得每个人都无法走出它的阴影,身体或是精神的死亡是生活在传统与现实的南方人必然的结局,同时也是福克纳本人作为将军后代对自我的历史地位迷茫的精神焦虑与痛苦。 论文第四章讲述了叙事声音的特色。多层次的叙事声音反应了作者对南方人生存境况的思索。 作为将军和州长的子孙,这些人物在传统和现实的夹缝中迷茫和迷失了。他们的人格在迷茫和痛苦中逐渐被异化,他们的信仰在固执与冷酷中变得苍白而可怜,他们的结局在喧哗与骚动中注定是死亡。这就是南方人的命运,更是福克纳的痛苦。这些都通过这四个方面的叙事特色得到很好的呈现。
[Abstract]:William Faulkner's famous novel the Sound and the Fury is a characteristic novel in narration. In fiction, the past and present interweave, repetition and ellipsis occur from time to time, focus and sound are flexible. These constitute the complex narrative features of the novel and convey the author's confused attitude towards the real society. Based on Genet's narrative discourse theory, this paper studies the narrative characteristics of the Sound and the Fury, and excavates the deep meaning of the works behind the different narrative features. The first chapter discusses the characteristics of narrative timing. Due to the author's extensive use of stream-of-consciousness techniques, the timing of the Sound and the Fury is very chaotic. The novelist used this to express his view that the traditional southern aristocratic family was declining as a result of the loss of wealth and the change of way of life in the course of reconstruction after the Civil War. Bangui was an idiot, and real-life images and sounds often brought his thoughts back to the past. Quentin is a man who feels extremely confused and miserable about the passage of time, and his consciousness often indulges in the past. Jason was a man who did not care about the past, but the loss of Katie's virginity made him haunt him and torment him all his life. Trapped in the past, Faulkner therefore shifted the center of gravity described to the past. This description also reflects the tragic fate of the Kampson family or the southern aristocrats unable to walk out of the shadow of the past and dissimilate their personality in the face of the real society. The second chapter discusses the characteristics of narrative focus. Different narrative focuses have different artistic effects, and readers also provide a multi-angle, three-dimensional perspective to examine the fate and desolation of the Campleson family tragedy that the author wants to show behind these focuses. Chapter three studies the characteristics of narrative repetition in novels. The novel loses its virginity to Katie, to the physical death of Dharma and Quentin, and to Caroline and Katie's "spiritual death". The theme of death in the novel is well reflected. The loss of virginity here is only a representative event against the tradition of the South. It makes it impossible for everyone to get out of its shadow. The death of the body or spirit is the inevitable outcome of the Southerners living in tradition and reality. Meanwhile, Faulkner himself, as the general's descendant, was confused with his own historical position. The fourth chapter describes the characteristics of narrative sound. The multi-level narrative voice reflects the author's thinking about the living conditions of southerners. As descendants of generals and governors, these figures are lost in the gap between tradition and reality. Their personality is gradually alienated in confusion and pain, their beliefs become pale and pitiable in stubbornness and ruthlessness, and their ending is doomed to death in the tumult and fuss. This is the fate of southerners, but also Faulkner's pain. All these are well presented through the narrative characteristics of these four aspects.
