【摘要】：《海狼》是一部独具特色的海上题材的美国现实主义小说杰作。作者杰克·伦敦是美国19世纪杰出的现实主义作家,作品通过主人公儿·卫登在海上的冒险经历,来揭露当时美国的社会现实。《海狼》自译介到中国来,已经有数种不同版本的译作。有些译者从忠实的角度把源文翻译成一部饱含讽刺和批判的作品,旨在让中国文学爱好者了解美国现实主义小说的价值。而有些译者则旨在翻译源文中的令人惊心动魄的海上冒险经历,让中国的儿童读者感受杰克·伦敦的想象。实际证明,不同的译文版本都受到了不同读者群的喜爱与好评。 翻译本质上是一种有目的的行为,译者的目的决定了整个翻译过程的策略和方法,译文是否最大程度地实现译者的预期目的也是翻译批评的一个重要标准。“目的论”突破了传统翻译理论“对等理论”的限制,重新定义翻译,使译者可以根据自己所要实现的预期目的来选择合适的翻译策略及方法。根据目的论,一个译本的产生会受到特定的社会,历史和文化的限制,译本所要取得的预期目的的不同必然会导致同一源文在翻译过程中有不同的侧重点。因此,在文学翻译批评中,关注翻译目的和目的语读者等因素,可以对译本进行更全面合理的评价。 本文试图从“目的论”视角出发,对杰克·伦敦著作《海狼》的两个中译本进行对比分析。第一个译本是由译者裘柱常于1982年翻译完成的译本,另一个译本是2010年作为小学生(12岁以下)的新语文课外读物之一译介的。在对这两个译本的评价要考虑到其产生的社会历史文化背景、目的语读者以及译文所要取得的预期目的,由此探讨“目的论”在文学翻译批评中的现实意义和指导意义。 本论文分为六个部分： 第一部分引言,简要介绍研究背景、研究目的、研究意义、方法论以及论文结构。 第二部分文献综述,扼要介绍国内外对目的论的研究以及对《海狼》及杰克伦敦小说集的研究。 第三部分理论基础,简要论述目的论的基本论点以及在翻译批评中的运用。 第四部分简要介绍杰克·伦敦及《海狼》的主要特点,《海狼》两个中译本以及其翻译背景和译者。 第五部分从目的论的角度评析《海狼》的两个中译本。 第六部分结论,对全文进行回顾与总结。
