《魔法师》:新型成长小说

【摘要】:约翰?福尔斯(1926-2005)是在世界文坛上有着显赫地位的英国作家,他的代表作品有《法国中尉的女人》、《收藏家》、《魔法师》等,福尔斯第二部出版实则最先创作的长篇小说《魔法师》在国外受到不少追捧,但在国内却较少有人阅读和研究。《魔法师》更少被正式作为成长小说来解读,本文为弥补这一空白选择这部作品从成长小说的角度对其进行探讨。 论文主要由绪论、正文、结语组成。绪论分两部分,第一部分概述福尔斯的生平创作和对他的评价,以及国内外对福尔斯的研究现状;第二部分介绍《魔法师》的创作情况和国内外对它的研究情况,以及国内外对成长小说的研究概况。 正文分三章。第一章讨论英国传统的成长小说与《魔法师》的关系。从西方成长小说的起源与发展概况切入,选择英国典型的三部成长小说进行分析,总结英国传统成长小说的特点。《魔法师》对这些英国传统成长小说的特点有着很大的继承,但同时也有着自己更多的新思想内容与新创作特点,这些使得《魔法师》成为一部新型成长小说,,下面两个章节即论文的主体部分将会重点讨论这两大创新之处。 第二章探讨《魔法师》与以往英国传统成长小说不同的思想内容。这主要表现在蕴含在小说中的现代性思想——“自我”人格思想、自由思想与神秘主义思想、当代多元教育思想。“自我”人格思想在小说中主要表现为主人公尼古拉斯从“自我”的二元分裂状态到“自我同一性”的人格成长历程;自由思想与神秘主义思想主要告诉成长中的年轻人这一道理:人只能获得相对的自由,自由必须依赖于神秘性这一存在而获得;当代多元教育思想在《魔法师》中主要表现的有当代存在主义教育思想、现代人文主义教育思想以及激进主义教育思想。 第三章讨论《魔法师》与以往英国传统成长小说不同的创作特点,主要有元小说因素的创作、互文创作手法、开放式结尾创作,元小说因素的创作主要通过元叙述来表现;互文创作手法在《魔法师》中用到的方法主要有引用、暗示、戏拟、仿作等;小说开放式结尾表明《魔法师》叙述的成长是一种隐含的没有终点的成长。这些创作特点赋予《魔法师》这部成长小说别具一格的实验味道,使得它成为一部新型成长小说。 最后是结语,总结上文,指出福尔斯的现实主义创作观和成长小说创作的关系,并提出从新型成长小说角度研究《魔法师》的意义。
[Abstract]:John? Fowler (1926-2005) is a prominent British writer in the world literary world. His representative works include the French Lieutenant's woman, the Collector, the Wizard and so on. Fowles' second novel, "the Wizard", which was first published, is popular in many foreign countries, but it is seldom read and studied in China. In order to fill this gap, this paper discusses this novel from the perspective of the growing-up novel. The thesis is composed of introduction, text and conclusion. The first part is an overview of Fowles' life creation and evaluation, as well as the current research situation of Fowles at home and abroad. In the second part, the author introduces the creation of the Wizard and the research on it at home and abroad, as well as the general situation of the study on the growing up novel at home and abroad. The main body is divided into three chapters. The first chapter discusses the relationship between the traditional British growth novel and the Wizard. From the origin and development of the western growth novel, the author chooses three typical British growth novels to analyze. To sum up the characteristics of British traditional growth novels. The Wizard has a great inheritance of the characteristics of these British traditional growth novels, but also has more new ideas and new creative characteristics. These make the Wizard a new growth novel, and the following two chapters, the main part of the paper, will focus on these two innovations. The second chapter discusses the different ideological content of the Wizard from the traditional English growth novels, which is mainly reflected in the modern thought of "self" personality contained in the novel. Freedom and mysticism. The personality thought of "self" in the novel is mainly manifested in the growth course of the protagonist Nicholas's personality from the dual split state of "self" to "self-identity". Free thought and mysticism mainly tell the growing young people this truth: man can only obtain relative freedom, freedom must depend on the existence of mystery to obtain; The contemporary pluralistic education thought mainly displays the contemporary existentialism education thought, the modern humanism education thought and the radicalism education thought in the wizard. The third chapter discusses the characteristics of the creation of the Wizard which is different from the traditional British novels. It mainly includes the creation of metafiction, intertextuality, and the open ending. The factors of meta-fiction are mainly expressed by meta-narration. The methods used in the creation of intertextuality in the Wizard are mainly cited, hinted, imitated, imitated, etc. The open ending of the novel shows that the growth of the narration of the wizard is an implicit growth without an end. These creative features give the novel a unique experimental flavor. Making it a new kind of growth novel. Finally, the conclusion summarizes the above, points out the relationship between Fowles' realistic creation view and the creation of the growing novel, and puts forward the significance of studying the wizard from the angle of the new type of growth novel.
