系统功能语法视角下小说《女勇士》中的人物形象塑造

【摘要】：《女勇士》(The Woman Warrior)是著名美国华裔女作家汤亭亭(Maxine Hong Kingston)的成名之作。该作品一经发表便获得美国普通读者的喜爱和学术界的青睐。《女勇士》打破了美国主流文学界对于少数族裔女作家的刻板定位,使美国华裔文学得到美国主流话语的肯定,成为美国华裔文学发展历程中一个重要的转折点。《女勇士》全书共五个章节,分别讲述五个中国及华裔女性的故事,汤亭亭娴熟的写作技巧,别具一格的叙述策略使得这些女性形象个性鲜明,小说主题突出。《女勇士》的出版,引起国内外学术界的广泛关注。学术期刊上有关该作品的研究数不胜数,这些研究大多着眼于运用文学理论(女性主义,原型批评理论,对话理论,东方主义,后殖民主义,后现代主义)分析《女勇士》的主题和人物形象。运用语言学理论对文学作品进行语篇分析是一个新趋势。本文以韩礼德的系统功能语法为理论基础,旨在从系统功能语言学的角度研究汤亭亭小说《女勇士》的人物形象塑造。在本研究中,主要采用系统功能语法中分别体现概念功能和人际功能的及物系统,语气和情态系统为分析工具,以《女勇士》第一、三、四章中描写无名姑姑、勇兰和月兰的两种语料(叙述语言和人物对话)为目标语料。通过对所选语料中实现及物系统,语气和情态系统的语法资源(即六种及物性过程：物质过程、思维过程、关系过程、行为过程、言语过程和存在过程,各种过程的参加者和环境成分；语气类型,语气成分；情态助动词,情态附加语)的分布,进行统计描述和分析解释,我们发现汤亭亭在这些语法资源选择上对某些语言结构有动因的突出以及对比手法的运用,成功塑造小说中无名姑姑逆来顺受,受中国传统思想禁锢但内心却极度渴望爱情,追求美的受害者形象；勇兰独立,勇敢和坚强以及强势的女勇士形象,月兰逃避现实和缺乏主见的懦弱形象。通过对实现概念功能和人际功能的语法资源分析得出的这些性格特征正是三个人物在整个小说中表现最突出最明显的性格特征,因此,本文的研究表明,人物叙述语言和对话中体现概念功能和人际功能的语法资源对于塑造和凸显小说中的人物形象起着非常重要的作用,进一步证明了系统功能语法分析在理解和欣赏文学作品方面的有效性。本研究同时也为赏析《女勇士》中的女性人物形象研究提供了一个新的视角。
[Abstract]:The Woman Warrior is a famous work by Maxine Hong Kingston, a famous Chinese American woman writer. It has won the love of American readers and the favor of academic circles since it was published. The female Warrior breaks the mainstream of American literary circles. The stereotype of minority women writers, Chinese American literature was affirmed by American mainstream discourse and became an important turning point in the development of Chinese American literature. There are five chapters in the book, telling the stories of five Chinese and Chinese women. Kingston's skillful writing skills and unique narrative strategies make these women have distinctive personalities. The theme of the novel is prominent. The publication of "Women Warrior" has attracted extensive attention from the academic circles both at home and abroad. There are numerous studies on this work in academic journals, most of which focus on the application of literary theory (feminism, archetypal criticism theory). Dialogue theory, Orientalism, post-colonialism, post-modernism) analysis of the theme and characters of Warrior. It is a new trend to apply linguistic theory to the discourse analysis of literary works. This thesis is based on Halliday's systemic functional grammar. The purpose of this paper is to study the characterization of Kingston's novel "female Warriors" from the perspective of systemic functional linguistics. In this study, we mainly use transitive systems which embody conceptual function and interpersonal function respectively in systemic functional grammar, mood and modality system as analytical tools, and describe auntie nameless aunt in chapters one, three and four of female Warrior. The two kinds of corpus (narrative language and character dialogue) of Yong-lan and Yuelan are the target corpus. The grammatical resources of transitive system, mood and modality system (i.e. six kinds of transitivity processes: material process, thinking process) are realized in the selected corpus. The distribution of relational process, behavioral process, speech process and existential process, participants and environmental components of various processes, mood type, mood component, modal auxiliary verb, modal adjunct) are analyzed and explained. We find that Maxine Hong Kingston's choice of grammatical resources is motivated by some language structure and the use of contrastive techniques to successfully shape the unnamed aunt in the novel, suffering from traditional Chinese thoughts, but longing for love in his heart. Pursue the victim image of beauty; independent, brave and strong and strong female warrior image of Yolan, Yulan escape reality and lack of initiative image of cowardice. Through the analysis of grammatical resources to realize conceptual function and interpersonal function, these personality characteristics are the most prominent and obvious characters of the three characters in the whole novel. Grammatical resources that embody conceptual and interpersonal functions in narrative language and dialogue play a very important role in shaping and highlighting the characters in the novel. It further proves the effectiveness of systematic functional grammar analysis in understanding and appreciating literary works, and this study also provides a new perspective for the study of female characters in female Warriors.
