【摘要】:汤亭亭作为当代美籍华裔作家的代表性人物,她的第一部自传体作品《女勇士》一经发表就引起了极大的反响和讨论。随后她又转换视角,推出了《中国佬》,来书写华裔男性在美国的奋斗历史。汤亭亭曾坦言这两部作品几乎掏空了她的家族史,所以她改变策略开始创作《孙行者》——她的第一部小说。 汤亭亭的三部主要作品《女勇士》、《中国佬》、《孙行者》可以看作是对整个华裔历史的重构以及她对美国主流文化中对中国的刻板印象的挑战,并且奠定了她在美国当代文坛的地位。在这三部作品中,汤亭亭从多个维度呈现出了一个她想象中的中国。但是华裔作家由于其自身的特殊性,在凝视中国这个“他者”的同时,自己实际上也是其中的一员,所以其笔下的中国形象既异于中国主流文化所塑造的本土形象,也异于美国主流文化所塑造的异域形象。 在比较文学的范畴中研究异域形象有着重要的意义,研究外国文学作品中的中国形象不仅可以促进我们对其价值观的认知,也促进了我们对自身的反思。 本论文通过理论分析与文本细读相结合的方式,从比较文学的异域形象学出发,系统地对汤亭亭的三部作品作深入的分析,研究其笔下的华裔形象。通过研究本论文认为汤亭亭三部作品中的华裔形象有着递进式的转变,《女勇士》一书中所塑造的形象主要专注于探讨“我是谁”的问题,《中国佬》一书则跳脱出自我,转而探讨生活在美国的华裔一族“他们是谁”的问题,,而在《孙行者》中,汤亭亭又将自我归入“他们”之列,开始解答“我们是谁”的困惑。通过进一步的研究,本论文也发掘出了影响汤亭亭笔下华裔形象形成的个人原因及历史文化原因。 论文共分六个部分。第一部分主要介绍汤亭亭及其作品的研究现状,与本论文的研究目的和意义,并介绍论文中所用到的理论基础。正文第一章主要分析汤亭亭作品中呈现出的多维度的中国形象:现实中的虚构形象,旧中国时期的女性形象,中国佬作为美国拓荒者的形象,以及新时期的华裔美国人形象。第二章综合汤亭亭的三部作品,整体地分析了汤亭亭笔下华裔形象的转变。第三章通过分析来研究汤亭亭所构建的华裔形象形成的个人原因。第四章则将重点放在影响汤亭亭笔下华裔形象的历史和文化原因。最后一章通过前文的分析得出结论,汤亭亭在不用时期所塑造出的一批批华裔形象以及这些形象的转变过程明确地论证了汤亭亭对追寻身份认同的努力,经历了困惑和怀疑期,最终确定自己华裔美国人的身份的归属。
[Abstract]:As a representative figure of contemporary Chinese-American writers, Kingston's first autobiographical work, Women Warriors, has aroused great repercussions and discussions since it was published. Then she changed her perspective. "the Chinaman" was released to write about the struggle history of Chinese men in the United States. Kingston admitted that the two works had almost emptied her family history, so she changed her strategy and began to write "Sun walker", her first novel. The three main works of Maxine Hong Kingston, "Women Warriors", "Chinaman" and "Sun walker" can be seen as a challenge to the reconstruction of the whole Chinese history and her stereotypical impression of China in the mainstream American culture. And established her position in the contemporary American literary world. In these three works, Maxine Hong Kingston presents an imaginary China from many dimensions. But Chinese writers have their own particularities. While gazing at China as the "other person", he is actually one of them, so the Chinese image in his works is different from the local image created by the mainstream Chinese culture and the foreign image created by the mainstream culture of the United States. It is of great significance to study foreign images in the category of comparative literature. The study of Chinese images in foreign literature works can not only promote our cognition of their values, but also promote our reflection on ourselves. Through the combination of theoretical analysis and text reading, this paper makes a deep analysis of Kingston's three works from the perspective of foreign image science of comparative literature. Through the study of the Chinese image in Kingston's three works, the author thinks that the Chinese image in Kingston's three works has a progressive change. The image created in the female Warrior mainly focuses on the question of "who I am". "the Chinaman," a book that jumps out of me, Turning to the question of who they are among Chinese Americans living in the United States, Maxine Hong Kingston classifies himself as "they" and begins to answer the question of "who are we," through further research. This thesis also explores the personal reasons and historical and cultural reasons that influence the formation of the Chinese image in Kingston's writings. The thesis is divided into six parts. The first part mainly introduces the research status of Kingston and his works, and the purpose and significance of this paper. The first chapter mainly analyzes the multi-dimensional Chinese image in Kingston's works: the fictional image in reality, the female image in the old China period, the image of the Chinaman as the pioneer of the United States. And the image of Chinese Americans in the new era. Chapter two synthesizes the three works of Kingston, The third chapter studies the personal reasons for the formation of the Chinese image of Kingston. Chapter four focuses on the calendar that influences the Chinese image in Kingston's writings. Historical and cultural reasons. The last chapter draws a conclusion from the previous analysis, The batch of Chinese-American images created by Kingston in the non-use period and the transformation process of these images clearly demonstrate that Kingston's efforts to pursue identity have gone through a period of confusion and doubt. Finally determine the identity of their own Chinese Americans.
