论美国边疆精神在《弗吉尼亚人》中的体现

【摘要】：欧文·威斯特被誉为“美国西部牛仔小说之父”，在美国文学中占据重要地位。他出版于1902年的著作《弗吉尼亚人》被公认为第一部牛仔小说，至今仍备受人们的喜爱。作为第一部西部牛仔小说，《弗吉尼亚人》在主题、情节、人物等方面对之后的众多美国牛仔小说产生了极大的影响，同时也在美国西部文化和美国西部小说创作方面产生了深远影响。弗吉尼亚人身上体现了美国人所珍视的边疆精神。他的自立、爱冒险、勇于迎接挑战、捍卫正义以及始终保持乐观的精神使他战胜困难得以在严苛的自然及社会环境下生存下来。这部牛仔小说如此吸引现代读者的另一个原因还在于它为当代脆弱的美国人提供了精神乐园及满足了人们对大自然的向往。本论文试图从美国西部开发，边疆意义以及《弗吉尼亚人》体现出的边疆精神来探析《弗吉尼亚人》的现实意义。本文共分三大部分：引言，，正文，结论。其中正文由三章组成。引言对作者欧文·威斯特及《弗吉尼亚人》内容进行了简要介绍，并回顾了相关研究，提出了本文的主要研究内容和目的。第一章着重于《弗吉尼亚人》的创作背景及文化影响并简要分析了美国西部开发和美国边疆的意义。第二章进一步分析了弗吉尼亚人身上所体现出的边疆精神。第三章进一步解析了追寻边疆精神对于美国人的现实意义。最后一部分是对整个论文的总结。欧文·威斯特笔下的弗吉尼亚人充分体现出了美国人西部开拓的探险经历和边疆精神。随着牛仔电影的全球化及西部牛仔小说在美国文学及文化中的重要地位和贡献，牛仔小说及牛仔文化必将受到越来越多的青睐。
[Abstract]:Owen West, known as "the father of cowboy novel in the west of the United States", occupies an important position in American literature. He was published in the 1902 book, "Virginia", recognized as the first cowboy novel, and still loved by people. As the first Western Cowboy novel, < Virginia > in themes, plots, characters and so on Many American cowboy novels have had a great impact, but they also have a profound impact on the western American culture and the creation of novels in the west of the United States.
Virginia is an embodiment of the frontier spirit of the American. His self-reliance, adventure, courage to meet the challenge, the defence of justice and the spirit of optimism keep him alive in the harsh natural and social environment. The other reason for this cowboy novel to attract modern readers is still in it. The present fragile Americans provide a spiritual paradise and satisfy people's yearning for nature. This paper tries to explore the realistic significance of the "Virginia" from the development of the western United States, the significance of the frontier and the frontier spirit embodied in the Virginia.
This article is divided into three parts: introduction, text and conclusion. The text is composed of three chapters. The introduction gives a brief introduction to the content of Erwin Westin and Virginia, and reviews the related research, and puts forward the main research content and purpose of this article. The first chapter focuses on the creative background and cultural influence of "Virginia". The significance of the western development of the United States and the frontier of the United States is analyzed. The second chapter further analyzes the frontier spirit embodied in Virginia's body. The third chapter further analyzes the realistic significance of pursuing the frontier spirit to the Americans. The last part is a summary of the whole paper. The Virginia people of Erwin westward are fully concerned. With the globalization of the cowboy film and the important status and contribution of the Western Cowboy novel in the American literature and culture, the cowboy novel and the cowboy culture will be more and more popular with the globalization of the cowboy film and the important status and contribution of the Western Cowboy novel in the American literature and culture.
