试论霍桑的赫菲斯托斯式艺术家和技术观

【摘要】:霍桑的很多作品中,有着大量的艺术家和实验者形象,他们都是凭理智做事的偏执狂。至今人们已经对此分别作了各方面的研究,然而鲜有对它们的系统、综合性的研究成果。 本文运用荣格的集体无意识理论和弗莱的置换变形理论,通过文本细读和神话原型解读,认为霍桑的作品主题和赫菲斯托斯的两个神话主题“受伤艺术家”和“畸形技术”之间有着很多相似点。霍桑笔下,艺术家的受伤形象主要源于他们受损的自尊心和自毁性的冷酷无情;而畸形技术主要反映在破坏性的机械、过度的以至于蒙蔽人心智的技术崇拜。霍桑的作品是霍桑在受其个性和他对十九世纪美国的深刻理解的影响下,对赫菲斯托斯的再现和置换变形。霍桑作品中的赫菲斯托斯式艺术家和技术观使人们认识到了建立更加人性化、道德化的艺术和技术的任务的紧迫性。
[Abstract]:In many of Hawthorne's works, there are a lot of artists and experimenters, they are rational paranoia. Up to now, people have made various researches on them, but there are few systematic and comprehensive research results on them. This paper applies Jung's theory of collective unconsciousness and Frey's theory of permutation, through a detailed reading of the text and the interpretation of mythological archetypes. It is believed that there are many similarities between Hawthorne's works and Heffiestus' two mythical themes, the wounded artist and the deformed technique. In Hawthorne's writings, the injured images of artists are mainly due to their damaged self-esteem and self-destructing ruthlessness, while deformities are mainly reflected in destructive machinery, excessive and even deceptive technological worship of the mind. Hawthorne's works are influenced by his personality and his profound understanding of the nineteenth century America. In Hawthorne's works, the Hefistorian-style artist and technical view makes people realize the urgency of the task of establishing a more humane and ethical art and technology.
