[Abstract]:The Bird of thorns is the masterpiece of Corinne McCullough, a contemporary Australian writer. The book, published in 1977, has enjoyed a high reputation as "gone with the Wind" in Australia and one of the top ten classics. The work is a best-selling novel. The author vividly tells the story of the three generations of the Cleary family from 1915 to 1969, including the two world wars. The experiences and fates of the three female characters in the novel are the true portrayal of the growth of Australian women in different historical periods. Since the publication of the book, it has attracted the attention of scholars at home and abroad. Most of these studies are based on the theme of the novel, feminism, the author's narrative skills and so on, but there are few studies on the ecological feminism of the novel. Based on the current research situation at home and abroad, this paper uses the theory of ecological feminism to discuss the ecological feminism thought reflected in the novel, and tries to better explain the theme of the work and understand the main characters in the novel. By analyzing the oppression of men on women and the destruction of nature by men in the novel, the paper explores the ecological crisis and neglected female principles reflected in the works. By comparing the common points between nature and women, this paper explores the relationship between men, women and nature in the novel, and analyzes the humanistic concern hidden behind the ecological feminism in the works. The study of ecological feminism in the novel gives us a new revelation: only when men and women are on an equal footing and human beings are willing to respect nature can our society be harmonious. A harmonious relationship can be built between women and nature. At the same time, the research also enables us to re-examine our own activities and learn from them. The first chapter is a brief introduction to the literature review of author Colin McCullough and his work the Thorn Birds. At the same time, it summarizes the theoretical basis of this research-ecological feminism theory, and puts forward the significance and structure of this study. Chapter two mainly explores the relationship between men and women from the perspective of feminism. The third chapter analyzes the relationship between the male and nature in the novel, and analyzes the influence of the male-centered values on the female and the resistance of the female to the male oppression in the novel. It reflects the destruction of nature and the resistance of nature to human destruction: chapter four analyzes the relationship between women and nature by comparing the common ground between women and nature. The symbolic connection between women and nature is obvious in eastern and western cultures, usually women are naturalized and nature is feminized. This chapter also analyzes Corinne's thoughts and thoughts on the relationship between men, women and nature. The last chapter summarizes this paper. On the basis of summing up the full text, this chapter restates the theory of ecological feminism, and at the end of this chapter puts forward the research significance of this thesis again, that is, only men and women are in equal status, and naturally they are respected by human beings. Only human beings can build a truly equal and harmonious world.
