[Abstract]:Individualism is an American core value. The formation of individualism originated from various European trends of thought. The western development of the United States and Emerson's transcendentalism played an important role in the process of individualism's Americanization. Humanistic identity, the pursuit of freedom, self-reliance and responsibility form the core features of American individualism. American individualism plays an important role in arousing the individual's awareness of the importance of self and guiding the individual from social authority to personal liberation. American individualism plays an important role in every aspect of American society. For this reason, many writers choose to use their works to interpret the meaning of American individualism. Ken. Kathy was a famous American writer in the 1960 s, during which Ken. Kathy was sought after by many young people for his anticultural lifestyle in California. "Flying over the asylum" is a reflection of his period of thought. Since its publication in 1962, the novel has been popular with numerous readers and critics. The novel presents the world of a mental hospital to us through a third-person narration by an Indian psychopath. In this world, authority suppresses people, but people end up with individualistic weapons of personal freedom. By means of illustrative research, this paper reveals the great power of individualism through the important role played by individualism in the transition of patient Bromden from paranoia to normal in the novel. This article interprets the novel Flying over the madhouse from the angle of individualism. Compared with other research works at home and abroad, it is an innovation to study from the angle of individualism. In this novel, the power of individualism is realized through a radical change in Bromden's life from madness to normality, from delusions to sobriety, from a subservient to an individualist. It is hoped that this study will help Chinese readers to learn more about the positive energy of American individualism. In addition, there are few studies on the novel "flying over the madhouse" in China. It is hoped that this article will attract more Chinese readers to pay attention to the novel.
