对司各特英国小说的生态女性主义解读
[Abstract]:Walter Scott, the father of historical novels, has created many famous poems and novels throughout his life, which has a great influence on English literature. Scott's combination of miracles and reality in his historical novels truly reflects the fierce contradictions and conflicts that occur in Britain and France. The study of Scott's works began in the 1930s. At present, domestic and foreign studies mainly focus on Scott's most famous novels, especially Avatar and Waverley, while Red Emirates Robb and Heart of Middle Lothingshire are neglected. In addition, scholars at home and abroad mainly study Scott's novels from the aspects of historicism and Scottish image, so Scott's novels still have a lot of research space. In this thesis, four English novels by Scott-"Waverly", "the Red Emirates", "the Heart of Central Lothingshire" and "Avon" are taken as the research objects, and based on the theory of ecological feminism. A thorough study of the male oppression of women and nature in the four novels reveals the joint efforts of women and nature in resisting male oppression. The thesis consists of five chapters. First of all, the paper introduces Scott and his four English novels, briefly reviews the research on Scott at home and abroad, explains the theoretical basis of the paper, as well as the emphasis and structure of the paper. The second chapter analyzes the symbolic relationship between nature and women. In the four novels, nature is feminized to a certain extent, and women are compared to animals and plants, reflecting the close relationship between nature and women. Chapter three discusses the patriarchal oppression of nature and women. Based on a study of the novel, the author finds that British men are keen on war, gathering and hunting, which does great harm to nature; at the same time, they have different degrees of discrimination against English, Jewish, Saxon and Scottish women. In the four novels, both nature and women fall victim to patriarchy. The fourth chapter reveals the common resistance between nature and women. In the four novels, women and nature unite with each other to resist male oppression. Women respect nature, which encourages men to improve their status, and women gain power by virtue of nature, giving them the same rights and freedoms as men. The fifth chapter summarizes the whole paper, summarizes the previous analysis, and restates the main points of the thesis. The author hopes to broaden the perspective of Scott's novels.
