《洪堡的礼物》中女性形象表现的矛盾性

【摘要】：长期以来,评论界对于索尔·贝娄小说中的女性形象持有两种截然不同的观点。贝娄早期作品中的女性形象一直为女权主义者所诟病,贝娄也为此被划入了男权作家的行列,而对于他后期作品中的女性形象,评论界则给予了高度评价。评论界的种种质疑和争议源于贝娄本人对女性的复杂情感。《洪堡的礼物》创作于贝娄文学事业的巅峰时期,男主人公查理·西特林是索尔·贝娄在小说中的代表,因此西特林表达出对女性的矛盾情感和态度可以反映出贝娄当时对女性的特殊感情。本论文采用女性主义的视角,以《洪堡的礼物》中的女性形象为研究对象,探讨贝娄对女性的矛盾情感在女性形象表现中的体现。论文首先探讨了矛盾性的根本原因和男主人公对其过去生活中的女性的矛盾情感。西特林深受男权思想的影响,沉溺于逝去的美好的家庭生活,在现实生活中固步自封,陷入理想与现实的矛盾中,并把这种情感体现在对女性的态度和看法上。其次,面对失败的婚姻,西特林试图将妻子妖魔化并以“受害者”的身份来维护自己强烈的男性优越感。然而,西特林的反思和对妻子的同情让他挣扎于内心的矛盾中。最后,步入中年的西特林视其与情人的关系为金钱交易,利用情人的年轻和美貌来抵抗中年危机,最终导致了情人的离去,这让一直对其情人有偏见的西特林开始思索他对女性的不公正待遇。笔者从女性主义的视角,对《洪堡的礼物》中贝娄对女性形象表现矛盾性的研究,能使读者进一步了解女性形象在贝娄小说中的发展,并引起读者对贝娄小说中女性形象创作的思考。
[Abstract]:For a long time, critics hold two different views on the female characters in Saul Bellow's novels. The female image in Bellow's early works has always been criticized by feminists, and Bellow has also been classified as a male dominant writer for this reason, and the critical circle has highly appraised the female image in his later works. The doubts and controversies in the critical circle stem from Bellow's complex feelings towards women. The gift of Humboldt is written in the peak of Bellow's literary career, and the hero Charlie Sitlin is Saul Bellow's representative in the novel. Therefore, the contradictory emotion and attitude expressed by Citlin towards women can reflect Bellow's special feelings towards women at that time. From the perspective of feminism, this thesis takes the female images in Humboldt's Gift as the research object, and probes into the embodiment of Bellow's contradictory feelings towards women in the female images. The thesis first discusses the root cause of contradiction and the contradictory emotion of the hero to the female in his past life. Deeply influenced by patriarchal thought, Citlin indulges in the lost and beautiful family life, falls into the contradiction between ideal and reality in real life, and embodies this emotion in the attitude and view of women. Second, in the face of a failed marriage, Sitlin tries to demonize his wife and defend his strong sense of male superiority as a victim. However, Seitlin's reflection and sympathy for his wife left him struggling with inner contradictions. Finally, the middle-aged Citlin saw his relationship with his lover as a financial transaction, using her youth and beauty to resist the midlife crisis, and eventually leading to the lover's departure. This led Sitlin, who had always been biased against his lover, to think about his unfair treatment of women. From the perspective of feminism, the author studies Bellow's contradictory expression of female image in Humboldt's Gift, which can help readers to understand the development of female image in Bellow's novels. It also causes readers to think about the creation of female images in Bellow's novels.
