从交际性权力的角度分析学生译员在展会口译中的会话协调角色

  展会口译是学生译员经常参与的一种口译实践。展会口译属于对话口译,具有很高的交际性。作者在一次展会口译实践中遇到两种“反常”现象:一是作者有时会剥夺展商说话的权力,阻碍展会双方交流;二是作者的翻译和协助有时被展商的客户无视,并因此感到尴尬。作者对自己在展会中的会话协调角色产生了疑惑,并发现一些学生译员也有相似的经历和问题。本研究以交际性权力为指导,通过个案分析和调查,旨在解释出现上述“反常”现象的原因,探究学生译员如何在展会中更好发挥会话协调角色。个案分析从话轮转换角度研究了作者的实践,调查则收集了学生译员和专业译员的意见。文章在已有相关研究的基础上发现,学生译员在展会口译中协调展会会话与具体的会话情形有关,但更深层的原因是学生译员在展会会话中获得了“受限的”交际性权力。如果学生译员未能正确认识到自己的权力是有限的,就可能会出现作者遇到的“反常”情况,即剥夺展会双方的发言权以及在被展会双方无视时感到难堪。学生译员能否发挥好会话协调角色,促进展会双方交流,取决于他们对具体场景、自身“受限”的交际性权力、展会双方的体制性权力及需求的理解,也取决于自身的口译水平和社交能力。结合对专业译员的采访,...
